This biography details the life story and musical career of Springfield and is certainly an engaging read but it isn't as in-depth as it could have been.

The author makes good use of quotes from interviews with Dusty which provide a good persepctive of how she perceived particular events in her life and career but lacks the views of others involved in her career except for fairly generic statements which don't really explain a great deal. It would have been nice to hear more from her brother on their experiences in The Springfields for example.

On the plus side a very thorough analysis of her musical output is provided with the author detailing every track that she recorded and offering his opinion on whether they were good, bad or indifferent. Probably a boon to major fans though it can become somewhat monotonous for the average reader. There's also a really good discography which includes re-releases and compilations.

A plus point was Leeson's lively wit which made it very entertaining at times. Certainly worth a look but by no means definitive.
