My 12 year old son & I have been reading the stories every night since Christmas. It starts with a story of the groundbreaking of the Billings Montana Temple, which I attended with my 2 oldest children, and includes others that I also personally have a connection to. The stories are wonderful & the illustrations are beautiful!
It was so great to read of the miracles that happened while temples were built all over the world. It confirmed to me that truly these are houses of the Lord and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the restored church of Jesus Christ.
This was a super quick read, just a compilation of very short stories about various miracles related to different temples. Inspiring to see the small and simple ways the Lord's hand is in His work.
What an amazing book!! I loved every story I read about the different Temples around the world!! I loved how each story had such a wonderful message about Faith, Testimony and sacrifice. I had always wondered how besides being built through divine revelation there wore other contributing factors why and how each were built. The illustrations were so beautifully done and some even had hidden images in them which made each illustration even more beautiful. Now every time I attend one of the many Temples I will have a much better understanding of the history of that particular Temple. My Testimony has been strengthened immensely from reading this book!!!
I was looking for a specific temple story which was not included in this book, and that was kind of a let down, but the the stories of miracles surrounding the building and use or these temples were wonderful. I liked that the author chose to use only stories that were well documented and published in other places as well as in this book. There were no fantastical accounts of the three Nephites, but rather little "everyday" miracles that could be called coincidence by non-believers. It was a fun, quick read, and it made for some great dinnertime discussions as I re-told some of the stories to my children.
I loved this book because there is so much that we don't know that goes on in regards to the building of temples and this gives you a small glispe into everything that goes on before and during and after the process. I would say the stories that were most thought provoking to me were the stories about the Billings, Montana Temple because you never know what is happening only the Lord knows so instead of being disappionted that you don't have great weather you have trust that it is all working out the way the Lord needs it too. I also liked the stories about the Houston Texas Temple.
This small book packs a great many faith inspiring stories! It was really enjoyable to read outloud with my husband - and alone.
It's a book packed with short stories about little miracles that happened during the construction of different Latter-Day Saint Temples. The author is also an artist and with every story is a handsketched picture of the temple the story is about.
I have bought this for my Dad for Christmas! I love it - fun to pick up and read - great stories to share with others too!
Very short (1-2 page), uplifting stories about the temples. Most of the stories are about miracles that occurred during temple construction or sacrifices made by members to attend the temple. I was expecting more insights into the temple ordinances, so it was only so-so. However, it earns an extra star just for the beautiful illustrations.
This would make a nice gift book - or a book to keep on an end table for people to thumb through and read a few stories.
Four stars, not for the writing, but for the content. The stories connected to the building of the temples are inspiring. Also, the sketches of the temples by Chad Hawkins are beautiful, and most of them have a hidden picture of Christ. I really enjoyed reading this. There are some out-of-the way temples, like Redlands, and Manhattan.
This was a very interesting book to read. It had some great stories about miracles that have occured at temple sites, mostly during temple constructions and openings. It was a very simple and easy read, but I liked it.
This book is a miracle. The spirit was so strong while I was reading it. The miracle to me is that I read the whole book on a Monday morning. Usually Monday mornings are crazy. This book is proof that the Lord protects his house. I would recommend this book to anyone who is endowed.
This was a nice, easy read. It was a book of short one page anecdotes about temples. I read a couple every night before bed. It made me feel good and happy as I read it, it recharged my hope battery and I learned stuff. I'm looking forward to reading the second book.
Great book! I enjoyed reading stories about various temples and things that happened during construction, dedications, etc. It is amazing to read about the Lord's hand in the development of these temples. It's a quick read, so check it out!
I've read this little book three times since it was given to me as a gift back in 2000. I love the black and white illustrations, and the temple stories are wonderfully miraculous. I would like to get the author/illustrators newest book, Temples of the New Mellenium.
