This book starts off sounding like a mother telling her daughter about self-esteem. It seems very mother-like, for example, “You are perfect just the way you are.” Once it gets past that though, it has some good techniques that can improve your self esteem over time. I also like that the author mentions famous actors and singers who either used to have self-esteem issues or constantly battle with them. People such as Helen Keller and Thomas Edison are mentioned as people who overcame their self-esteem issues and accomplished great things. The overall message is great and the step by step tips are helpful. I would recommend this book to middle and high school libraries.
