Have you ever wished your cat could talk to you? If so, allow my story to be your cautionary tale.My life was going just fine by most standards. I ran a successful business in a tight-knit magical community, and lived just blocks from a beautiful lake and series of hiking trails.
Then Selene showed up.
According to some magical code I inherit my aunt’s ancient familiar; a grumpy ten-pound cat with a broken filter. She fancies herself something of a saber-toothed tiger, and claims to have wrestled the thread of her ninth life from the hands of the Fates themselves—although, I’m pretty sure that last part isn’t true.
Almost positive.
I’m still looking into the magical fine print, but in the meantime I’m stuck as the guardian of a snarky immortal cat with the personality of Sophia from The Golden Girls. Oh, and by another cruel twist of fate, my ex-husband just moved back into town. Just when I thought I couldn’t take any more, a murder rocks my small community and I wind up entangled in the investigation thanks to a handsome stranger.
If only life came equipped with a rewind button.
**This boxed set edition includes the first three books in the Nine Lives Magic Mysteries series. Chase down the mystery of Aunt Lavender's disappearance and explore this colorful world filled with magic, mystery, adventure, and a spark or two of romance.
I absolutely love this series by Danielle Garrett, and revisiting this box set of the first three books through audiobook has been a true delight. Selene, in particular, stands out as one of my favorite characters in literature, thanks to her hilarious and quirky personality. If you enjoy cozy mysteries that envelop you in a warm blend of intrigue and whimsy, I highly recommend diving into this series or any other work by Danielle Garrett. Each story offers a delightful adventure just waiting to be discovered.
There was humor, sadness, mystery, and the same smart mouthed cat in each book. Selene, the magical/familiar cat, could have used a filter to keep her from embarrassing her witch at times. The cat was at times humorous and other times - exasperating! But the books were written with Selene as one of the two major characters, so her personality had to stand out. Cora, Selene’s witch, owned and operated a candle shop where she also created custom ordered candles. Cora was an interesting character who liked people and did not want to hurt or upset them. Aunt Lavender went missing in book one and was still missing at end of book three. Each book had a death to be solved, and Cora and Selene to the rescue!
I enjoyed the Beechwood series with Scarlet, the ghost “whisperer,” and Holly, the witch, by Ms. Garrett. Those two series were a better read for this recently new paranormal reader. After reading both of those series’, I hoped to enjoy this one as much - but so far….😔. Great to read to help go to sleep.
This is a conglomerate of the first three books in this series. They are quite good. Looking for her aunt can be quite a bit too much. There are murders along the way. My life was going just fine by most standards. I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited. This in no way affects my opinion of this book.
Cora owns a magical candle shop in a magical town. She’s inherited her aunt’s magic cat although the cat is awful snarky. Cora’s aunt is missing and she’s trying to find her. She’s also trying to convince her ex that he’s still her ex. And there’s a new handsome hunk in town that might be interesting, except he might be a murderer. As you can see life in Winterspell is never dull. I flew through reading these books and went straight to number 4.
Cora runs a magical candle shop in Winterspell. She has inherited her Aunt Lavender's talking sassy cat Selene. Her ex is back in town trying to get back together. She meets a man she is interested in, who is accused of murder. Oh and Aunt Lavender seems to be missing. A lot going on. It's A fun clean read. Each book has a new mystery to solve along with looking for her Aunt.
Cute story but naive heroine, a lot could be resolved with asking a few questions and talking to a few people. Her brother seems to be left out of the loop. Mom doesn’t seem as troubled by her sister’s issues. Characters seem to take no action for days on resolving things and no consulting with a town full of magic users.
I think Cora should put a silence spell on Selene or at least a ‘speak only when spoken to’ spell. Very cute and sweet characters that always seem dragged into the middle of murder or mayhem. The darned police are useless and antagonizing. Glad Clint is there to be a friend to Cora. Might have to keep reading this series!
Just completed the first three books and the cat Selene is a hand full. She looking for her witches that has been kidnapped and she moved in with Cora. She gives Cora a hard time especially about her boyfriend Clint. Recommend it to everyone
you need to read this series... it has it all.. mystery.. intrigue... smiles.. you'll find yourself not wanting to put the book down until the last word.. and then you'll want the next story!
Interesting, hilarious and cute mysteries. The characters are well developed and enjoyable. Be sure to read the book series. Hopefully you find it entertaining
A cat familiar who has lost her witch has decided that her witch's niece will have to do. Apparently, a familiar without a witch begins to fade away. Can the cat and her niece locate and save Lavender?
I loved these three books! The story has everything…mystery, humor, & romance. Selene, the FMC’s familiar, is so obnoxious & hilarious! I cannot wait to read more of this series!
