I liked this book a lot at first. Promptly followed the author's advice and started supplementing 12.5mg of iodine per day. The next time I got labwork done, my thyroid levels were more out of whack than they'd ever been. Turns out excess iodine can actually damage your thyroid gland more than it already is if you have hypothyroid.
The author repeats himself a lot and cites the same dude over and over. He doesn't really make much effort to create a well-rounded understanding of the issues. This would've been better structured as an article. I've learned not to take things so seriously just because they're published in book form and to proceed with an abundance of caution if sources are lacking.
This book is FASCINATING! I would give it a full five starts, but I did find it to be repetitive, so I skimmed over a few bits when it felt like information I had already understood from previous chapters.
For a “medical” book, it’s a pretty easy, straightforward read. Somehow he explains things without completely dumbing it down, but also without leaving you feeling like a complete dum-dum. There is a lot of research referenced, leaving you easily able to dive deeper into the Iodine rabbit hole.
I think this information will be extremely beneficial to me, and I look forward to reading his other books.
