An undercover alien. A curvy human female he's desperate to claim. One month to make her his. Tabitha Mathews has never had much luck with men. Her past relationships only left her heart aching and her self-esteem beaten down. But who needs them? She's doing just fine on her own. She has a booming home business, an adorable, mischievous dog, and she just became a first-time homeowner...right next door to the hottest man she's ever seen. Oh, did she mention that he happens to be an alien? An alien with dreamy, glowing eyes, wicked fangs and claws, and a tail. But she's not supposed to know that, and only finds out after her wonderfully considerate dog leaves a big, odorous gift in her neighbor's back yard-which promptly results in her being kidnapped. Now she's tied to the alien's bed, because of course he's come to Earth in search of a mate-and he wants Tabitha to fill that role. More specifically, he wants her to carry his baby. Saying he's moving fast seems like a bit of an understatement. Is Tabitha willing to accept her alien abductor as a mate? Is she ready to be a mother? And he's generous enough to give her four whole weeks to decide. It's not like it's the biggest decision of her life or anything...right?

I mean...it wasn't bad, but I wouldn't have known I was reading a TR book had I not known it was a TR book. This is a very generic nice SFR. There's nothing terribly special about it. Nothing really stands out. It has most of the basic genre tropes in it, but no real subversion of them or interesting twists. It was fine, but I wasn't wowed, and because I expect more from these two, it was a bit of a let-down. (They get graded on a harder scale than most of the other stuff I read. 🤷♀️)
So.
And while I usually love me a long book, this one was long for the wrong reasons. It could easily lose about 100 pages, most from the 15-45% areas of the book, and lose nothing for it. There's seriously only so many times I can read about an aching groin and dripping shaft before I want to chuck a book into a wall, you know?
And also...confident and not stereotypical Sad Fat Girl protagonist, please?! Before some dude connects with her? You know, worth that doesn't come from someone else but from herself? Who does a girl have to make sacrifices to for a fat main who isn't the Diet Industry's Wet Dream?
Delightful, smutty and wonderful... just great! I had such a great time reading this one. It was out of the box and maybe the sweetest kidnapping I have ever read. This hero is obsessed and sweet and shows so much care for his mate... I was rooting for him to win her over the whole time.
This also may be one of the sexiest books I've read from these authors so far. Haha!

This story is the perfect blend of swoony romance, steamy alien heat, and heart-melting devotion.
Zevris, an alien warrior in disguise, has been living on Earth for a year searching for his lifemate, his planet’s only hope after a devastating illness wiped out most of their women. With just one month left before his mission ends in failure, fate intervenes in the form of his gorgeous new neighbor, Tabitha.
Tabitha, a soap and candle maker starting fresh after heartbreak, doesn’t expect her mysterious, ridiculously handsome neighbor to upend her life. But when she discovers his true identity, she finds herself in the middle of a whirlwind of alien secrets, sizzling chemistry, and a battle of wills.
What made me fall hard for this book was Zevris himself. He’s fiercely protective, endlessly patient, and utterly devoted to Tabitha. He respects her boundaries, stands up for her, and would do absolutely anything to keep her safe and happy. I also loved how body positivity is front and center. Tabitha is a curvy, confident heroine who is deeply desired and cherished for exactly who she is.
If you loved the Ice Planet Barbarians books, this one delivers the same addictive rush. And the spice? Out of this world. Think passion, swoony devotion, and some very creative alien anatomy that takes every scene to the next level. Let’s just say his tail isn’t just for balance…
The only aspect that kept me from giving five stars was the pace at which Tabitha fell for Zevris. With just a month for him to find his lifemate, their connection progressed very quickly—within a week, they were already together. While their chemistry is undeniable, I would have appreciated a bit more time for them to deepen their emotional bond and get to know each other beyond physical attraction.
That said, I still thoroughly enjoyed the story. The romance, Zevris’s devotion, the body-positive representation, and the inventive, steamy alien elements made it an engaging and satisfying read from start to finish. If you love your alien romances with a protective hero, a relatable, body-positive heroine, and a romance that’s as sweet as it is scorching, this one’s a must-read.
This was such a warm story. There was little to no angst, very little plot, only about the two MCs and it was kinda perfect in that way. It’s a book that’s great to read between heavier reads, to ease your mind.
Zevris is such a perfect MMC with golden retriever energy. He knew from the moment he saw Tabitha that she was his and never doubted. And Tabitha was open and honest and cute. Perfect together.
2.75 stars. I’m dnfing this one because I’m bored and I want to read something more exciting. In a nutshell, She makes soap and He is an alien trying to find a Mate. He “kidnaps” Her (She stumbles into His backyard one day, sees the “real” Him and He decides to keep Her hostage in his house). Sounds sexy, right? Eh. Not so much.
Soap Girl is a bit wishy washy and Hunky Alien is too one dimensional. I know that I shouldn’t expect literary perfection but come on, how about a little backbone for the Heroine and a more nuanced personality for the Hero? Instead we get a grown woman who still “bites her lip” at the mere glance of alien abs and Hunk runs around trying to control his uncontrollable hard-ons. PUH-leeeeeze. And the sex scene, at least the one that I got to, was fairly pedestrian. Maybe the scenes get better and hotter later on, don’t know and don’t care.
Overall, I just don’t think this book is worth your time. Go check out Ruby Dixon, someone who writes fully fleshed out, engaging characters and pretty hot sexy times. Enjoy!
I loved Zevris and Tabitha!! This was such a cute story. I snickered as Zevris tried to figure out all of our crazy humanisms. It was a little long, but they had such a sweet relationship as they learned to trust each other and fall in love.
Note: Some of my goodreads shelves can be spoilers
Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Readability: 📖📖📖📖📖 (I was very into this one!) (Descriptions found at end of my review)
Should I read in order? This is the first book in Roberts’ series Aliens Among Us series.
Basic plot: Tabitha is captured by her alien neighbor when she sees him in his natural form – after binding her to his bed, they agree on one month to decide if their relationship will work...
Give this a try if you want: - science fiction romance - contemporary Earth setting - alien hero / human heroine - hero wants a wife and babies – he’s been on Earth for a year looking for a relationship - pets – heroine has a German Shepherd that gets into lots of mischief - full figured heroine - he rips apart her dildo – because she definitely won’t be needing it 😂 - forced proximity – he captures her and binds her to his bed when she sees him in his alien form - he cooks for her - soap making heroine - higher steam – 7ish full scenes
Ages: - Hero is 36 earth years (presents as a 32 year old human), heroine is 26
First line: Zevris’s phone chimed from the passenger seat indicating another received message.
My thoughts: Ahhhhh I loved this novel!!!! Oh my gosh – Zevris really, really stole my heart. Utterly, completely...I loved him so, so much. And listening to the audio was so delicious. I adored how he talked to Tabitha...and listening to Zachary Zaba growl her name repeatedly just had me melting…
Tabitha was such a fun character and I loved seeing her grow into her confidence with Zevris. I liked that this book had some time for them to get to know each other a bit before they fell into intimacy. It’s not a slow burn, but I liked that there was this delicious tension building first!
This made me really excited to read the rest of the series soon! I probably would have had a lot more quotes if I didn’t listen to audio too.
Few random reading stats for this author # of books read: 4 Average rating: 4.25 stars Favorite book: This one!

Full break down on what my ratings above mean here: Overall: How I felt about it everything considered! Readability: How ‘readable’ was the book? Did I fly through it? Did I have to tell myself to pick it back up repeatedly? Were any passages confusing? (I will probably score like (1) is literally unreadable due to formatting/typing errors, etc (2) There were lots of errors that made it difficult to read OR It was extremely confusing and I had to reread passages to make sense of it OR I disliked it so much I had to bribe myself to keep reading (3) I didn’t really want to keep reading and would have preferred to abandon the read and start something else OR some minor continuity issues/confusion (4) I liked it fine, maybe a minor error or 2. I was happy to pick it up when I had time. (5) I never wanted to put this down. I thought about it when I wasn’t reading it. I hid in the bathroom from my kids to read. I threw inappropriate food at my children for dinner so I could read instead.) Feels: Totally subjective to each person but did the book give me any tingles? Any butterflies? Did it rip my heart out (in a good way?) Emotional depth: How well do I feel I know the characters at the end? How much did I feel their emotions throughout the story? Sexual tension: Again, subjective, but how strong was the wanting and longing to me between the characters? A book might have strong sexual tension without a single touch. Romance: Was there romance? Did romantic things happen? This can be actions/words/thoughts of the characters and again is subjective. Sensuality: This is how the intimate scenes are written. Kisses and sexual scenes – how sensual were they? Were they on the mechanical side? Was there emotional pull tied in? Were the details explicit or flowery? These are subjective but generally (1) too short to get a good judgement (2) not all what I'm looking for - very vague or flowery prose (3) either not explicit enough or not enough emotional pull (too mechanical/physically descriptive without the emotions) (4) what I love in a scene (5) absolute perfection - perfect balance of emotional longing and explicit descriptions Sex Scene Length: How long the bedroom scenes are (generally (1) is 1-3 sentences (2) is a few paragraphs to a page-ish (3) is about average, a few pages (4) more well developed scenes, quite a few pages with descriptions (5) the majority of the book takes place in the bedroom. This is always hard to tell for me on audio! Steam Scale: Generally, each flame is a scene. If scenes are super close together I sometimes combine them. If a scene is super short or so vague I don’t know what’s happening, I don’t count it. There’s some levels of grey but generally the number of flames is how many sex scenes there are (I max out at 5 so I’ll put a + after if there’s more than that)
I didn't hate it but it didn't really hold my attention. I expect some pretty well-developed characters from the authors and this wasn't it. The sexual attraction didn't make sense to me because the FMC's response to the MMC's actions were so ridiculous. You can have a MMC that is dark-ish and gritty and disregards the FMC's boundaries and you can have a kind/loving MMC but you can't really have both because it just doesn't work. He was kind and loving while he had her tied up/broke in to watch her shower despite her asking for privacy, etc. and it just didn't make sense... It sucks because there was the opportunity for an AMAZING grovel after he realized how horrific his actions were but it never happens because she was mostly unbothered by her neighbor (cutely?) kidnapping and restraining her. Her though process was basically, "I know this isn't ok, but lol look how cute and funny he is being" it was just kind of meh
This story is about the woman with a curvy figure. And what I really hate about this is how many writers said things like that in this kind of stories: "But guys like him didn’t go for girls like her. They preferred women who’d choose a salad and the gym over those who’d grab a pint of ice cream and plop down on the couch with a blanket to binge watch a TV show."
First of all wtf, can't we discribe someone's body type without shaming someone else? It such a big stereotype that person's body type depends on how they feed and do their sport. It's not that simple to just eat healthy and do exercise. Some people thin nevertheless that they eat fried chicken and spend time binge reading and some gain weight just eating salad and running. So I didn't like it at all.
And the second thing that annoyed me. If I wanted to read dark story about abduction and kidnaping and absence of consent believe me I wouldn't have a problem with it. Because when you go into dark story you expect such thing in plot. But when you expect to read sweet romance between alien neighbor next door and cute chubby lady who make candles and soap it's not what you expect. Not at all.
Especially when author trying to portrait it like heroine not against abduction and just don't know what she wants. That alien is actually very sweet and nice guy. Because he so very not. Those scenes when he pressed to her behind with his body wasn't sexy they were creepy. That the guy was hot didn't mean it was okay, they just met ffs.
So be aware when you going into this book it's might be not what you waiting.
And the last thing so much vocabulary explaining make this book perfect methodical for alien, I know the difference between car and vehicle so it was boring to read inner monologue of our hero. Alse there was a lot of room description and I was bored at the 30% of book already.
This could have been so good with a little more editing. As the story is now I just couldn't keep going. Zevris had the same inner monologue over and over again, and there was very little dialogue to balance it out. If this book was less than 400+ pages I might of powered through, but I just have to come to terms that this story wasn't for me.
I enjoyed reading this, it was lighthearted and fun. I hope there are more books from this author that feature BBWs, because most of the time they are under-represented in fiction. I am glad this book took me to a happy place. I also liked that the main characters didn't allow their problems with each other to drag on and on. They discussed them head on and got on to the business of loving each other.
DNF @ 50% - Too many Non-Con elements for comfort. I was expecting fun & spice and so far, there's been neither. Disappointing because I really like alien romances, but her thinking that she needs to trust and be accommodating to him while he literally had her chained to his bed agains her will... Just no.
Did I think the kidnapping was a bit much? Yes. Was he really thoughtfull regardless? Yes. Did he have real feelings towards her and really tried to treat her as she deserved? Yes. Was she a plus size queen who needed a hunk of an alien to learn she was a queen? No, but it was fun to read all about it. It's a win-win situation for all.
Also, he has piercings, yes.. piercings plural *wink* y'all can imagine where too *wink*
I did think the last 10% was unnecessary plotwise but oh well.
It took a bit to get going (and I could’ve done without the questionable consent issues after she was first taken), but this turned out to be such an AMAZING book. I loved Zevris and Tabitha’s relationship and was thoroughly invested in their HEA.
I can’t wait to dive into the rest of this series!
This. I needed this. Cute, wholesome, low stakes with a socially awkward alien who would do anything for his mate.
But also I loved that he made her feel beautiful and that he was ready to kill the males who called her such awful things. He was all about her and thought she was truly everything he wanted and needed. I love reading books that deal with self esteem and while I do love a confident fmc, I relate a lot to the fmcs who struggle with their self worth and their body appearance. That's very real to me and my own issues.
Zevris was 🥵💦 like please.
Ugh. I loved this. This made me happy lol
It wasn't the best of TRs writing but like it HIT. I was struggling to stick with a book because my brain has been mush and I think I am needing more of these cheesy stories that don't take a lot if brain power but make you feel warm and cozy. So onto "Yearn for her" I go!
Zevris and Tabitha were adorable together and the spice was steamy AF. The book was heavily geared towards body positivity and, other than the initial “kidnapping”, was pretty cozy.
As is usual for this writing duo I really enjoyed this first book in a new series. There was little to no action involved unless you count a trouble making dog. The story is very much romance based and if the hero wasn't an alien, it'd easily fit into a contemporary romance box. Because of all this the book was rather tame but still made for a fun and exciting read. The hero is on Earth to find a mate and see if his species is even compatible with us after a plague kills off his peoples women. When the heroine moves in next door he is immediately taken with her and after some horrendous first dates with Earth girls he's ready to lay claim to his woman. Of course event the best laid plans always go awry and that same meddling dog manages to put a wrench in his plans by speeding things up and taking away the chance of a regular courtship for these two. Everything worked out nicely in the end and I really loved both characters and their interactions. Perfect sweet read for those that like their men out of this world ;)
Undercover aliens, man. YESSSS. Undercover aliens who are just looking for the love of a good woman and who have to sit through some torturously bad dates without finding her. Because, you know, she ends up moving in next door and now things are super awkward because she gets tongue-tied and you're a little obsessed and OH YEAH.
Zevris and Tabitha. They don't necessarily have it easy, but they don't have it hard either. I mean, Tabitha is pretty accepting of her alien neighbor (once she gets over the initial shock) and Zevris knows she's the one for him. He only needs to convince her of it. There's also a pretty strict time frame he's wooing her under, which makes it so things have to move quickly.
They make it work, though. Zevris gets to support his honey, Tabitha gets the love of a good male, and Tabitha's former boyfriend gets a lesson in how unacceptable behavior isn't tolerated.
This is alright read. I think it had a lot of missed potential but it’s worth a read if you like alien romances. I was intrigued that this was set in a contemporary earth setting. Most alien romances are with women on a alien planet through abduction or government program or if a post apocalyptic earth after an invasion.
The first half felt slow to me, I almost checked out because I just wanted to get to the captivity part. H is a good captor, sweet and thoughtful. The h didn’t put up too much of a fight because H was super sweet and she was attracted to him.
Slow burn, I think they get it on sometime around 68%ish.
Some push away from h in captivity No OW drama Mild OM drama No cheating No separation HEA Epilogue
Safety - this is safe. We begin with H on a disastrous tinder date but he ditches her bc she’s so vapid and obnoxious. He’s instantly into h when he meets her shortly thereafter.
We meet h’s ex and he’s terrible. There’s an altercation later into the book where the ex and his buddies are calling h names and H kicks their asses and forced the ex to apologize.
