Not a review so much as a mention of one specific negative aspect of this series.
Throughout this series there were certain cringe-worthy moments that occurred that pulled me out of the story when I was reminded that I was reading a book about a ~12/13 year old. See: cover of this book.
So, main character and group of friends head to the demon isle that turns out to not be a demonish looking place, but instead a island paradise looking place. Naturally they go swimming. Naturally one of them, while swimming, loses their top. And everyone stares at the now topless 13 year old. Cringe.
Overal an intersting and fun story, though that cringe-ness had to be mentioned at some point, and the book with the 13 year olds in tiny bathing suits seems to be the book to mention that issue. How the main character fixates on breasts, and, I forget which book, I think the prior book, even, on occasion, literally gropes her friends breasts. Because. They are there. And larger than her own. And stuff. [during one fight scene, which I'll mention now because this is my 'cringe' note to this series even though this scene occurs in the next book, the main character causally mentions to the person she is fighting something along the lines of 'you know, with you hovering over us . . . we can see everything, right? I mean, if that's what you know and want to have happen, go you, but if you didn't know we can see your frilly little lace undies, well, we can.']
Right, so. Neat kitty is spotted and joins the team, along with her kitten sister.
