An impossible dungeon versus an unstoppable team—the No-life Gamers are back at it again, this time testing their mettle against the Rank S dungeon. In their latest adventure, Allen and the party are working hand in hand with Helmios and Sacred, Zeu and his coalition of beastkin, and Admiral Garara’s party of golems, this dungeon raid is turning into an international affair!
Clearing this dungeon will be anything but a walk in the park, though. Allen and the team are in for a challenge like nothing they’ve faced before, but if they’re the first to clear it, they’ll get a wish granted.
With the flame of Fire Goddess Freyja weakening by the day and forging becoming next to impossible, it’s up to the Gamers to play the role of dungeon pioneers and pave the way for other adventurers to find top-quality loot. Everyone’s going to need to be fully equipped for the fight against the Demon Lord Army!
My experience was what I expected after the last book, which is a shame since I originally really enjoyed this series. This book encompasses the second half of an arc that was split into two books, but you wouldn't have known it since there was really no payoff. About half of the book was just summaries of various things relating to the dungeon or the current political situation in the Empire.
The much-anticipated fight against the Rank S ultimate boss was boring and lame. The MC even lampshades the situation by describing the boss's behavior as similar to a cheesy villain. Calling attention to it doesn't change the fact that it's removing any tension from the fight. We already know that nobody will die, so the fight just took way too long and didn't progress any new mechanics or anything important.
Then we once again waste the final 10% of the book with a few side stories. It's fine that an author has backstory for characters as reference, but that stuff just doesn't belong in the story. Light novels already sell at a higher price because they are translated, so the last thing I want is to feel like I'm not getting my money's worth. The stories are already too short to begin with to pad the pages with random side stories.
I should have dropped this series after the previous book. The story has overstayed its welcome and is just meandering around the landscape while expecting me to continue paying premium prices. Not happening.
I totally enjoyed reading this book for the most part. I'm not a gamer but it's writen in such a way that I'm not thinking "huh". I do skip through the pages of upgrades. The problem I have is the side stories and where they are placed. I was reading and Sophia suddenly had fairies helping her. Then at the end there's a side story. That whole chapter could of been put in right after they said they were going to get them. This is on the publisher and editor not the author. To the author great work keep it up
The story continues dealing with the S-rank dungeon and what comes afterwards. I am mostly still reading the series because of the intriguing world and plot. Characters are still shallow, and this time there was a very long drawn out boring fight that made me almost not finish.
The author is amazing! He made Allen a true genius. The strategies he comes up with are fantastic. I love the plot, Allen & the other characters, and the world building. I can't wait for more of Allen's adventures!!
Okay just the reveal about why Allen is in this world and the first place is worth the price of admission. And I cannot wait for that scene!
I am a little bit surprised at how when I read something on J-novel club, and then reread it later on as just a straight book, I'm not sure if the changes I see are just my memory being a tad bit faulty, or if things really are changing between versions. There were short stories in here that I had no memory of.
Also, the whole cartoon villain thing, really doesn't come off. The boss just comes across as cruel. If they're going to do the cartoon villain thing, they need to make it a little bit more obvious to the reader aside from our MC just saying, 'Oh he sounds like a cartoon villain.'
Aside from that, our smart MC does SmartThings and I am here for it.
Also, I have to wonder, how much further can he go? I mean what's he going to summon next, a god?
