This is an awesome zombie event in the DC universe. It is really well done and tied perfectly i to DC lore.

This is a tough book to rate because I'm so mixed on it that it is kind of mind boggling. On one hand: It's pacing is terrible, and sometimes the tone is really jarring and maybe a bit too comedic for the situation these characters are in, and it feels cluttered and goes on a bit too long.

On the other hand: It surprised me on where it would eventually go, it has moments that still felt so emotional and had my heart breaking at points, there are great character moments, I liked how quickly everyone reacted to the virus and how fast they planned to stop it, and the book doesn't feel like a gimmick.

So, it's really hard to say what I really feel about this book, it has some really good highs, but some really bad bumps that you have to get over to get to them. Is this series worth it to get to those moments? If you care about DC and the universe and characters they created then absolutely.

As a whole it's not quite as cohesive or consistent as one would like; it's not as good as the sum of its parts and pales in comparison to Taylor's other elseworld: Injustice: Gods Among Us. It's seldom incisive or a great twist on character but it is epic in scope, punctuated with stings of emotion and comedy. Overall it feels rushed and to also be read equally briskly. But the pulply energy of it and the often grand artwork is a joy that cannot be denied.
