Undercover Agent

Rate this book
It was North America's biggest drug bust, worth $238 million. The man behind it was a small-town businessman who fooled the Miami drug barons who were setting up a pipeline into Canada. Leonard Mitchell worked undercover for the RCMP for 19 months because “it was the right thing to do.” He was successful but it earned him a lifetime run from the mob. And he also had to take on the Mounties.

- The largest drug bust in North American History ($238,000,000!) was made in Nova Scotia in 1985.
- An ordinary Canadian, a scrap-metal dealer/fisherman, was the driving force behind the bust.
- He tipped the Mounties off, then volunteered his cooperation (at great personal risk to himself, and his family) because he thought it was the right thing to do.
- Then came the almost two-year battle with the Mounties for new identities/witness protection/relocation/and compensation.
- an excellent read
- a story that I was entirely unaware of
