Annie Brennan had a plan. Four years at Columbia followed by medical school, residency, a fellowship and somewhere in there she figured she would meet the love of her life and they would have two children. But that was before she met Mason Howard and before Annie learned that she was part Si, or elf, for lack of a better word. With her future so clearly connected to Mason's it seems obvious to Annie and everyone around her that they're headed for marriage - eventually. In the meantime, Annie has enough to worry about between trying to learn everything she can about the Si world, wondering where Andrew will turn up next, and figuring out why she and Mason keep having the same nightmare over and over again. The only thing Annie never stopped to worry about was the one thing she never thought was possible: "What happens when your soulmate is lost forever?"
I really enjoyed Paired. I have a love of YA fiction and this book was really entertaining.
The book follows Annie and Mason through a star crossed lovers/long distance type romance.
After meeting at a wedding Mason realizes who and what Annie is and that she has no idea.
Although Mason lives a privileged old money life in Virginia and Annie unknowingly lives a glamorous life in NYC as the daughter of a famous clothing designer, the two are perfectly paired.
While reading the book I definitely felt like I was a senior in high school again, all the hormonal emotions of young love and jealousy and betrayal came back to me.
All in all a fun read. I can’t wait for the sequel.
