Rate this book
Step into the dark and disquieting world of Jake Bannerman in "The First 13 Years."
Known for spinning tales as spellbinding as The Twilight Zone and as gruesome as American Horror Story, Bannerman’s horror novel narratives are a descent into the depths of fear and the darker side of humanity.
This formidable collection – a sojourn through what Bannerman calls the "secret menu" tour of Hell – encapsulates his first 13 years of work dedicated to crafting horror fiction books. Be warned, dear those who journey down this road do not return the same. "The First 13 Years" includes three full novels and two complete novellas, each a testament to Bannerman's uniquely disturbing style. Accompanied by haunting artwork that will leave a lasting impression, this collection also features a new short story that probes the chilling corners of the human psyche. As you journey through "Harvest," "Severed Tongue Secrets," "The Fee," and "Still w/Alt End," get ready to be confronted by unsettling truths. Immerse yourself in the terrifying worlds of "Wisdom," "Stillborn Divine," and "The Pitchfork Diaries," and get a taste of the terror to come with the original draft of the beginning verses of "Butchers Hook (Stillborn 2)." Each narrative culminates in what Bannerman is best known for – a Dead End Twist that will leave you stunned and questioning your own sanity. Experience alternate endings, previously unpublished, that will keep you on edge long after the book is closed.
"The First 13 Years" is not just a book. It's an unsettling exploration of horror and the human condition. Dare to take the journey? You've been Once you start, there's no coming back. Embrace the descent.

Jake Bannerman made his violent entrance into the world as an author, when he released his first book, "The Pitchfork Diaries Vol. 1"

in Fall of 2011. Proudly breaking boundaries with his middle finger held high in the air for the world to see, Bannerman returns with the first book in his new "Family of Dog" series: THE HARVEST.

The Harvest, once again questions the very thing that people hold most dear to their hearts; religion. Bannerman's writing, will not only tear open wounds you never thought possible, he will take pleasure in digging his fingers down deep into your gaping sores just to watch you squirm. With no apology, Bannerman continues to leave the literary world with its jaw firmly planted on the ground, while laughing, he kicks dirt in its eyes.

If you are looking for an author who plays it safe, you might as well put Bannerman on your banned book list. Bannerman is the

equivalent of an author/rock/porn star that enjoys nothing more than saying the things that everybody else is afraid to say. With no qualms in telling you he is damn good, Bannerman's books back him up by ranging from extreme horror to mind numbingly skillful

situations, his books bring raising hell to a whole new level.

Thank you for this ARC 😊

When you said it was bloody and gory, you sure meant it! 😅

This is a collection not for the faint. It touches on sensitive topics, including delving into religion. While the blood and gore are extreme, the stories don't rely on it. It's not just for shock factor, and that's refreshing. While I received the raw unedited version of this book, it didn't turn me away from finishing it. I look forward to more works from Jake!

I knew I was going to love this book. I have read a few things from this author and I needed more. If you are trigger sensitive then move on. I don’t think there is one trigger he left off the board. Extreme shock and gore is my new “genre.” I will be reading through Jake’s library because I’m hooked.
