Nem én vagyok a célcsoport. Ez ismeretterjesztő jellegű kiadvány olyanoknak, akik szeretnének megismerkedni (elsősorban görög) mítoszokkal úgy, hogy közben a csillagászat alapjaitól se menjen el a kedvük. Arról az író nem tehet, hogy én nemrég olvastam Ovidiust, és egyébként is ókori görög kultúrával etetnek tizenegy éves korom óta.
Ami viszont komoly probléma, hogy a leírás becsap. A könyv nyomasztóan Európa-központú. Többnyire legfeljebb apró utalásokat tesz más kultúrák történeteire, amelyeknek utána lehet nyomozni, illetve rámutat, hogy a csillagképek egyáltalán nem öröktől fogva való ideák, hanem közmegegyezésen alapuló konstrukciók.

This book is for those that are interested in the constellations and the myths that have come from them. A lot of Greek and Roman mythology is talked about as well as some Chinese and other countries. There are star charts of individual constellations and discussions of the brightest to the dimmest stars.

Non-Fiction. All the information is nice if a bit dense. I appreciate the way it's organized by season and region. To get the most from this book, you might like some binoculars and a planisphere. Without the planisphere it's easy to loose your connection to the information and how it fits together.
Easily used as a reference book. Not a novel.
