Fate always has a plan for us, which is likely why it sends me stumbling face first into my mate’s crotch. Literally.
Imagine my surprise when I first hold his hand and, bam, a bond clicks into place throwing me into a supernatural world I know nothing about.
Add in a snarky golden retriever familiar who always has my back, three psycho Elders trying to kill me, and a bestie who gets kidnapped… I’d say fate certainly has a strange sense of humor.
And it’s not done with me yet. Turns out I have five fated mates, all from different magical backgrounds.
The thing with fate, though? It leads me through a ton of twists and turns, but eventually, I end up exactly where I need to be.

Basically my review entails what I stated above. This was a solid series. However, the last book in particular, and ending felt horribly rushed!
I really enjoyed the adventures or misadventures of Sadie and her mates…
**SPOILERS**
Sadie a “normal human girl,” finds out she’s definitely “more than human” when she collided with her fated mate. This fated mate, Keos, is part of “a circle” a group of magical beings that are BORN with “gifts” and when they bond they get stronger. So Sadie bumps into her mate, who is there with his “brother” a.k.a. Circle member. There is instant chemistry and connection. They meet up with their third circle member - basically the Leader of their circle- who brushes Sadie off and treats her horribly in favor of this clearly unstable red headed “Barbie.”
Sadie takes it all in stride and refuses to let Elian (third circle member) get to her, or the relationship she is forming with his circle. She bonds Keos and Dante (the first guys she met, that she “bumped into” and they help save her). The three of them bond much to Elian’s dismay. Although Elian knows Sadie is his mate, his LINK he refuses to aw knowledge it because of a traumatized past and future nefarious plans. But Dante, Keos and Sade overrule him, in a manner of speaking, and they all go back to “the mansion” which is the Kings (Elians family) property. It’s there she is introduced to Vinson (formally) a shifter who is more like a slave or in indentured servitude to the King family because shifters are considered THE LOWEST OF LOW in the Night Weavers Society (the society Sadie learns is REALLY MESSED UP). She lives at the mansion where she continues to get closer to Dante and Kaos, AND Vinson (Vin) even though she knows it’s “forbidden” for her to ever “connect” with Vin. Drop in a “rogue” Light Weaver named Reed (she once met at work and felt something for) and you get a whole lotta CHAOS that ensues.
**CONTINUED SPOILERS/OPINIONS**
As I said, this was a solid series. Sadie is pretty cool and badass, even though it takes us awhile to figure out why she (as a human) is training in martial arts and MMA. She’s snarky and gives and good as she gets. She doesn’t take any shyte!
There were a few reasons why this series didn’t get 5 stars from me. 1) Elian knows from the instant he SEES Sadie that she’s their Link, but decides (on his own to keep the knowledge to himself) and continue to “court” the truly psycho Night Weaver Savannah because she’s “expendable” in his overall “plan.” Soooooo okay is the first book I could understand this scenario and it actually was good that he didn’t instantly form a bond to Sadie. Having ALL her circle members fall head over heels in love with her would’ve really made the series “boring.” But you ONLY get a true glimpse of Elian’s REAL nature and personality toward the end of the series. And he only admits to being fully “committed” to Sadie toward the end of the series. For most of the series he comes off as a petulant, mean, hoity-toity like aristocrat, who cares nothing for anyone or anything except Dante and Kaos. Yes, he lusts after Sadie, but he makes it clear he’ll never “further” their relationship or permanently bond with her leaving their Circle basically unfinished. I thought the author should’ve started to “thaw him out” earlier. Because the “rush” at the end wasn’t believable. Yeah, I get it. He lusts after Sadie, but the author didn’t didn’t give us any “sweet moments” between Sadie and Elian like she did with the others to show their growing affection. I understand Elian’s character is dark and broody, but his eventual “fall totally in love with Sadie and yield to her,” was too rushed. 2) Everything I just said about Elian, flip the coin, and you get Reed, the Light Weaver King. When Sadie meets him (once, you understand) he’s still a prince and the Light Weavers and Night Wavers are at war and hate each others. Then his whole family light weavers community is is slaughtered by the evil Elders of the Night Weavers and he barely makes it to Sadie’s side without dying. He had potential but again Sadie and Reed’s interactions were so minimal and “surface level” that it is really, really rushed at the end, when he brings in this random Light Weaver, Matilda, who makes portals and helps save all their a&&es. Matilda is important but we barely get to know her in the series. And Reed is EVEN MORE IMPORTANT because he’s part of Sadie’s Circle AND a member of The Prophecy and we barely get any time with him, either. It’s just too hurried. The last book has all of them in his “sanctuary” but nothing was really discussed or explored about him until that point when he’s like “hey, I have a great place to hide out from the evil guys. Let’s go to my former families compound and hideout- all of us.” Okaaaaay…..this is what the series was building too, I understand, bringing Light, and Night Weavers and Shifters all together as EQUALS, but it happen to feel really “hurried.” There just isn’t time enough time to explore Reed’s relationship with Sadie before toward the very end of the book they have sex suddenly, seal the mate bond, and boom, they’re all a circle. 3) Ash…I’m sorry, it’s was clear from the middle of like book 2, was the mole!! I mean, Sadie, really?! She was acting shady as H-E-L-L!! And was clearly guilty of something. But Sadie who is supposed to have great instincts ignores them all in favor of her “best friend,” who ends up betraying them all at the pinnacle of the book. Then even though Sadie is “mad” at Ash, she understood. But was still mad at her. The next thing you know we’re at the epilogue and Ash has the start of her own harem, a shifter and a rockstar! And she and Sadie are “fine” and everything works out “perfectly.” Uhhhhmmmm I’m sorry, but no. Sadie keeps saying she’s not sure if she can trust or.forgive Ash again, up until the end of the series, but by the epilogue it’s “all good?” I don’t think so. It’s unbelievable and rather ridiculous, IMO. 4) All of the above lead to a very “anticlimactic” ending. We KNOW that the Elders are bad. We know that their Elite team, led by Elian’s horrible father, are evil. We know that they’re “after” Sadie. But all we get at the end is a few pages of a “battle,” then it’s all “done,” and we fast forward to the epilogue where change is slow to come, BUT it coming, and everyone is living their HEA??!!! The last book was waaaaay too hurried. The author seemed to be trying to tie up all the loose ends and quickly, while developing the characters she had already established. It made the ending really dissatisfying. I also believe if the author was giving us an epilogue like the one she gave us. She should’ve had Sadie pregnant by her circle or telling her mates she was pregnant. I mean, the author alluded to it by telling us, the readers, that everyone around her seemed to be getting pregnant. But hey, Sadie’s a “modern” woman, she doesn’t need to be a “brood mare,” *eye roll*. With how the end of the book played out THAT WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN THE CASE! She would’ve been connecting everyone through the birth of another Triad Child, instead of being a “brood mare,” *another eye roll.” Well, yup, again, it would be unexplainable that that would be the epilogue, right?! Ugh. Nope. Again the entire last book was hurried, and the ending was especially rushed. However all in all, the series was entertaining, and an easy read.
“It makes me angry that they think I can’t handle myself.” “I was doing fine before you showed up and I’m not weak.”
Look. I am all for strong female characters. I live for them. But Sadie? Is annoying. She is immature. She has a chip on her shoulder the size of Texas. She doesn’t listen. She wants “revenge” for the death of her brother. In the middle of a fire fight she launches herself out of a moving vehicle because she go nuclear thinking her friend is in danger - when her friend was spending the night with a rocker and she knew it. She’s irrational. Quite frankly, she’s unlikeable.
I hung in there for the first book. But the second book beginning with the “I am vengeance” thing completely takes away from the actual story. No one cares about the best friend - who was equally crass and annoying. Making Ashley the focus? Foolish.
The author can't keep her POV's straight, switching characters mid chapter with no indication... just Sadie one paragraph and one of the guys the next. There was no real world building, just a couple of info dumps. There wasn't much character development or dimension. The language was stilted and all of the characters had the same "voice" which doesn't line up with their supposed backstories. I honestly don't feel the need to read anything else by this author.
This is 3 books and a rather hearty epilogue, weighing in around 800 pages total. Honestly, unfortunately, respectfully - it would have been better if it was edited a lot and came in around 600-650 pages.
Starting with the good - Sadie. Period. Everything about this FMC is really perfect. She's strong, she's smart, she's adaptive, she has a traumatic past but doesn't let that be her only personality. Kaos (except for his stupid name), Dante and Reed are also pretty close to perfect. Vinson and Elian (again with annoying names) are decent but both had more wobble moments - Elian with his inability to grow quickly and Vinson in his weak moments. Both had success but didn't quite live up to potential. Emma and Ash are ok female besties but again, they just didn't quite live up to potential.
The elders plotline was really solid until the end. The uncle plotline was absolute trash and ruined a lot of the last book for me. The author lost her focus, decided to jump zombie sharks instead of keeping the focal antagonists in sight, and it was a mess of unnecessary excessive bloodshed for me. (Malachi specifically deserved his own spin off. The author threw away great potential just to make this series horrifically extra). Stripping everything uncle related and putting a little focus into a creative elder resolution would have made for a cleaner and more satisfying ending.
There is a lot of side tangent blathering throughout all of the series. The spicy times are excessive and poorly timed, both in length and actual timing within the storyline, and got boring pretty quick for me. Partly because the plot slammed to a halt for them to get hot a bit too often. While there is a decent amount of decent humor in the series, an excessive amount of that is repeated and nauseum.
The pacing feels a little jerky but the editing is exceptional. Overall it's not a bad book by any means but it left some potential on the table. It's open door, highly fictional, and has some really unique elements. It is a bit messy storywise, has some tropish elements that don't quite work (specifically the awakening) and could be better but is worth the read if you're willing to skim over the faff to get to the plot movement.
Thank you Demi👑. Just when I needed a positive, affirming, mind stimulating read... & you surprised me with the gift of laughter on top of it all. Dark /victim tropes are reactionory & unfortunately too common for what's available to read. Angst sells. Triggering emotional trauma need not be so explicit in regard to the kindle demographic this is geared to. Thank you for understanding that we can read between the lines all that you are eluding to. Hardship, abuse & death are unfortunately part of life, we read to escape: not to recall & remind us of sad times. Thank you Demi, reverse harems are All about an unrealistic fantasy- 1 man (mortal or not) cannot be expected to fulfill all the needs/demands that we women sometimes have ( at minimum we can be unrealistic in expectations ). U did not take the easy road in this trope & I am grateful. Oh, and Demi, thank you for crotch pocket knives. Laughter is the cathartic medicine that anyone with an average IQ is looking for in a fantasy book. Next book, I hope to see you add the wisdom of looking for laughter & joy where you can find it in the midst of adversity. Your book was a perfect example: all about escapism in a sophisticated, action-packed, down to earth, explicitly detailed & a joy to read. I NEVER compose reviews, this one is to fwd to your piers... rule Queen!
In the beginning this series was really good she seemed like a normal girl with some powers then she turned into the Terminator. But she didn't need anybody's help. And she could unalive anybody she wants. And she was Unstoppable. There was no romance in the book if there was it was like an afterthought. They were mates in this book and they made it sound like it was special but it didn't seem like they were. They could talk into each other's head but they rarely ever used it. Some of her mates did not want to bee mates. There's other women drama on here. Which was very annoying. It made some of the guys seem unloyal to her. If not all of them. But I just couldn't get over the fact that she's so powerful that nobody could beat her type of person and it made her like The Terminator. Unstoppable unbeatable not needing anybody. It was just like I don't even see the purpose of the mates. She was supposed to make them stronger but it didn't seem that way. And one of the guys was going to break her heart and was going to make her hate him I only got two book two about 30% of it and when I read that one of the guys were going to do something to hurt her I stopped reading it.
Marked by Night: This was such an intriguing story full of unexpected twists and turns. The story was refreshingly different with a variety of different types of magic, shifters and mates that are enemies. Thoroughly enjoyable. Bound by Light: Oh wow! I certainly didn't see that coming! What a cliff hanger! And the plot twists - OMG! This is definitely a must read. I am hanging out to find out what happens next in the conclusion of this series. It's so well written, the characters are well developed and the storyline is so good. Called by Fate: This was a fantastic ending to a great series. I loved every minute of this book. There were so many things that had me laughing, there were lots of unexpected plot twists and of course the HEA. This is an outstanding debut series from a new author and I can't wait to read more of her work!
DNF. I had been interested in this series for a while, so I was happy to purchase the entire series as a complete novel. I found book one (Marked by Night) to have a unique plotline, and I really liked Sadie (the FMC), Sadie's familiar, and the mates Sadie finds for herself. However, as book two (Bound by Light) continued the series, I wasn't getting into it as much as I had wanted to, and I ended up not finishing it. I really wish I had enjoyed this series more. I feel like this series was pretty fast paced. The characters were well developed and there wasn't instant love. Yes, some of them got bonded quickly, but they didn't call it love, just attraction. The plot was interesting and kept you wanting to know what would happen next. There were a few places where I felt like the story dragged a little because I felt like the author was just filling in space with unnecessary stuff.
My only complaint about this series is that the author does some of the scenes from different character perspectives. Some people like that. Me, not so much. I feel like it detracts from the scene when the story regresses so you get someone else's viewpoint. Overall, the series was good and I enjoyed it.
This trilogy was amazing. It broke my heart more than once, made me SO mad with a certain shadow boy, and really did well building relationships with each man in the harem. Some of them were super fast burn in from the start and a couple were so slow we really didn’t see any progress until just shy of the 3rd book. There were some minor continuity flaws and things I wish we had seen on page but overall this omnibus was a great read
The Fate's Mark series was fun for me to read I mean from the beginning where Sadie falls face first into one of her mates crotch had me ROFL. What a way to find one your mates right. There is also a Golden Retriever familiar which I loved. Though there are some things I didn't like which was the OWD we got, all in all it was a great series to read.
I could not put this book down. This is a new author to me, and they did not disappoint.
Loved the bonus content. I'm hoping for more in this world, but ugh gagged... Malachi, I am so hoping for some plot twist in another book from this world because I so wanted him to get his hea.
I really liked this series. It was good. There was just enough nasty from the "mean" member that everything flowed smoothly and I didn't get too annoyed at anyone as the group formed. I don't like how the last member was brought in...it felt off. All in all though, I really enjoyed the series.
I'm so thoroughly impressed with this series! This is the first story I've read from this author but I will definitely be following her for more. I loved the characters and how everything just flowed so smoothly that it pulls you in and keeps you there!I believe that anyone who like RH with lots of steam should read this series now!
I liked the books overall, just kind of a ish the fight didn’t end so soon. I feel like they knew it was coming…they go on a mission, fight and it’s done. A little more back and forth would’ve been good in my opinion. I love Sadie and Hemsworth is awesome too!
I really enjoyed this book series and loved the characters. I'm glad everything worked out for them and they got rid of the evil weavers that were wreaking havoc.
I loved this series from the beginning, but by the end I was so happy with both the characters and story progression. I am so in love with this world and these characters! I can't wait for more!
This is a really great series. Started off with craziness and kept going. Love the characters. Story line was good. Seemed a little rushed at times but everything worked out in the end.
I absolutely loved this series. I just can’t believe those evil jerks did all those horrible things. I’m glad Sadie’s and the guys got there happily ever after they definitely deserved it.
This was definitely an intriguing read. And I always love different POV’s because for me it just gives ooh idk it just gives you so much more. I love it. It was a great book, there were moments when it felt too fast paced and then others it was moving quite slow only to speed up again. Though I loved the different outlook of this world and everything that came with it.
This was a super addicting witchy werewolf why choose fantasy! I laughed so hard during this series, especially in book one. This FMC was a total badass, and had the best inner monologues. I truly enjoyed this series and will definitely read again!
