Revenge R Us

Rate this book
Iris reached over and shook hands with me. Her long, black fingernails scraped my palm. Then, moving her lips silently, she rubbed the crows back, once, twice...three times.

Her eyes shot open. "There. It is done. A lovely little revenge. Your brother will have a terrible accident—and he'll never recover."

"Nooo!" I wailed. "No—please! That's not what I want! Take it back! Take it back!"

"Sorry," Iris said coldly. "It's too late."

If you ask me one book to choose from the fabled Goosebump series and name it as favorite, I will not so reluctantly pick this out from my cabinet of books.

You might get the story's blurb from other sources. So, here's the best part of the review.

As a child it made me cover with an almost daunting fear that this book rendered. A girl who's every attempt to maim her brother backfires. And how!

Watch out for an end that's sure going to need some water beside your desk.

A full 5 star for the roller coaster ups and downs and the scary turn of events.

Recommended with all the malice in the world.

Revenge R Us might well be the worst book written under the Goosebumps banner. In this joyless outing, Wade is harassed by her sadistic older brother, and seeks Revenge with the help of an apprentice witch named Maggie. Maggie (and her pet crows) are happy to oblige, but she keeps messing up the spells which wind up torturing Wade rather than their intended target. If the book merely rehashed Be Careful What You Wish For, which these early passages do, it would be boring but inoffensive. But the scenes of Wade's brother bullying her are so extreme and vile that they become genuinely difficult to read; while many Goosebumps books enjoy dark karmic punishments on obnoxious protagonist, Wade does absolutely nothing to justify the Universe dumping on her like this. A last-act reveal that it's all a long con by her berserk brother makes things even worse, and sets things up for a dud of a conclusion. If Revenge R Us's cavalcade of horrors were visited upon a deserving target, or played tongue-in-cheek like many Goosebumps works, it would be one thing; but these mean-spirited magical meanderings are treated so seriously that it's hard to imagine even the target audience enjoying this one.

WoW..👏🏻👏🏻❤️❤️❤️

Fatoni Maraton Goosebumps Series 2000

Ketika akhirnya balas dendam Wade berhasil, aku senang sekali walaupun kemudian akhir cerita khas Goosebumps merusaknya. Namun, lumayan kocak.

Minus the panties stuff, this book is really solid. Really liked most of the characters and it’s not annoying like most revenge stories. 7/10.

This one is basically a recycled Be Careful What You Wish For .
I will say though, that it is a little bit better than that book from the original series. This one has the same, heavy-handed message of "be careful what you wish for" and "revenge is bittersweet" and the like. The story itself was mildly enjoyable. Not bad, but far from being one of my favorites among the series 2000 books.
I would probably give this one 2.5 / 5 stars

Wirklich schade.

Stine definitiv besser.

Idee: 5/5
Details: 4/5
Spannung: 2/5
Emotionen: 3/5
Charaktere: 2/5

Gesamt: 3/5

R.L Stine is an American short story writer widely referred to as the "Stephen King of children literature", and is the author of horror fiction novels.

This story revolves around a young girl Wade who is fed up of her brother's obnoxious behavior. Micah is a troublesome sibling who bullies his sister on numerous accounts. Wade decides she has had enough and plans her revenge, however, she is unaware of what follows next.

The genre of the story is horror and supernatural fantasy. The suspenseful buildup of the plot keeps the readers hooked. In particular, I grew fond of the lead character Wade and her resilience. Despite struggling and endagering her life, she succeeds in her mission.
R. L. Stine leaves me with a renewed sense of hope and determination right after I read his books.

This book is, of course, one of R. L. Stine’s Goosebumps books, and the concept behind this one is that there’s a company that promises to help you to get revenge on the people who’ve wronged you via a sort of Faustian deal with the devil.

It was alright, as Goosebumps books go, but I didn’t particularly enjoy it. The characters feel flat here, as they often do, and the story line doesn’t stand up well if you compare it to some of the others. That’s probably partly because this is a Goosebumps 2000 book – and not part of the original series. Yeah.

This book felt oddly familiar as I was reading it, and I couldn't tell if it was because I had read it before or if it was just pulling a classic Goosebumps move and recycling bits and pieces from other entries in the series (notably #12 Be Careful What You Wish For and #26 My Hairiest Adventure). By the end of the book, I still couldn't give you a definitive answer, but at least this one had a fairly satisfying ending that made the seemingly random plot actually make sense (yes, this series has an extremely low bar).

I really like this book and would absolutely recommend it. The book shows what can happen if someone gets the chance to take the revenge they've been wanting. As all good Goosebumps, twists, mystery, and scary segments. I also like how the title gives that Toys R Us feel, but with hints of horror. The bird and magic of the story reminds me of Be Careful What You Wish For, but I much preferred this story.

Recycled content from the main series and the creepiest older brother I've come across in the series.

The guy (17) takes pictures of his sister (12) in her underwear asleep and uses it to blackmail her. He takes her diary and reads it out in public over a PA system. The parents are useless. Guy should be on some government watchlist.

This one was legitimately great, with quite a big twist at the end!

Side note: I've never heard of Wade being used as a girl's name before, though. Has anyone else?
