Hunter…

When it comes to killing vampires, werewolf Cade Thain is the best slayer in the Northwest. So when a witch hires him to take out a pureblood vamp, the assassin thinks it will be just business as usual. One less vicious vamp on the streets…one more undead parasite gone from the earth. Then he meets her.

Protector…

Allison Gray isn’t the prey that Cade expects. Beautiful, innocent, she stirs a dark desire within him. Allison hasn’t transformed fully into a vampire, not yet, and it’s Cade’s job to make sure that she never does. Allison thinks that he’s at her side to keep her safe, but Cade is supposed to pick the right moment—and kill her.

Lover…

Killing Allison is soon the last thing that Cade plans. As she begins the transformation that will turn her into a vampire, her bloodlust and their desire merge in an explosion of need that neither can control. But Allison’s enemies are closing in, and the coming battle will take Cade and Allison beyond life, beyond love…and into a deadly darkness that waits to claim them both.

Bound in Darkness.

Warning: This novella is a sexy paranormal romance. As such, it contains blood, sex, vampires, and a hot alpha werewolf. Violence and adult language? Yes, those are included, too.

An entertaining book, but isn't that great.

Good books need:
→ Good writing (It was VERY generic.)
→ Good story (Actually, it was a fun pnr!)
→ Good character's (Nah, they were pretty flat.)
→ Originality (Minor amounts.)
Whatever, you get me, right?

While reading it I noted "eye-sores":

THE BEGINNING (in my words)
Our vulnerable female heroine sits alone at a bar. Soon she is harassed by dangerous bikers, but gets rescued by the even bigger and badder tortured-wolfman-biker! Shortly after, in a dark alley, he throws against the wall(in order to kill), while she throws her arms around him (to hugs, kiss - whatever) and BAM - he's falling for her charms!
Yeah...
True romance.
Through and through.
I'm skeptical, but we'll let it slide.

Ahem, so it's:
→ Damsel in distress +
→ Protection by the strongest male (damn our stupid female instincts!) +
→ Biker lover (apparently bikers are the new black!) +
This book has vampires, werewolves and bikers, we're only missing the rock-stars and we'd be set with the current mainstream archetypal male heroes! Okay; And a highlander, but then we're covered.
→ Insta-lust +
→ "Ice cold" killer slash "tortured" hero

No, miss author. Mentioning a "story-fact" at least 5 times AND throwing in doubtful flashbacks, DOESN'T automatically cement it's credibility.

The H uses the endearment sweetheart - argaghahhh, someone punch me! Must be a mouse in here, 'cause I smell cheese.

Now to the PRO:

→ Fun, thrilling "action" paranormal romance! Ka-ching $D
→ Supernatural creatures always rule (as long as the "why" to their existence isn't too far-fetched &/or meaningless in regards to the story)
→ I liked the story's premise:
Killer werewolf has been sent to assassinate a soon-to-be vampire, but falls in love with the innocent girl he is confronted with instead.

RATING of 2.5 (...max - I can't helpz it, if it no haz da sparkle qualitiz ta shine!)

When I saw that Cynthia Eden had a new paranormal romance out, I scurried over to Barnes & Noble as fast as I could. This novella is a standalone vampire/werewolf PNR, but it is set in the same world as Bound By Blood, which I also loved. Both are only $.99 and both are fantastic, quick reads.

It opens with a werewolf, scarred both inside and out, taking payment from a witch. His job? To kill a vampire named Allison.

Allison is going through some things right now, and a witch has befriended her. This witch says all will be revealed by her "guide," and literally tosses her to the wolves. Well, wolf. Allison follows the witch's directions and finds herself in a seedy bar, facing a very scary man. But as soon as she realizes he's her guide, her fear is replaced with trust.

Cade doesn't know what to do with Allison's blind faith in him. Added to that, she's not a vampire. At least, not yet she's not. To Cade, she's just a lost little human. She's a rare pureblood vampire (born, not made), and she hasn't gone through her change yet. And she's forcing him to find his long-forgotten humanity.

My favorite quote:

"Come after me again," Cade warned, "you're dead. So much as look at Allison wrong, you're dead." Oh. Allison swallowed. He was protecting her again. If he didn't watch it, she'd definitely start to think he had a soft spot hidden beneath those claws and fur. "I'll rip you open," Cade continued, voice grim, "and cut your heart right out of your chest while you scream and beg for me to stop."

Maybe not such a soft spot.

A great novella that I thoroughly enjoyed. Cynthia Eden is fast becoming my go-to author for paranormal romance.

3.75 Stars. Rounds up to 4

Cynthia Eden is a hit and miss with me. But something about this series just keeps me coming back for more.
The adult steamy scenes are there but on the mild side.
The MC's are interesting and likable.
The suspense is mild but well done.

There is some problems with the flow. But not bad. Just a spot or two that needed a word or two corrected and the flow wouldn't have been interrupted.

This is a short read of about 90+ pages. But it is a super fun read. Just like the last one in this series.
Something about the world and the characters keeps you interested.
Not sure when I will be able to read #3, but I am looking forward to it!

"Bound By Darkness" is the story of Cade and Allison.
When Cade, an assassin werewolf is hired by the witch Elsa to kill a pureblood Allison for an insane amount of money, he never expects Allison to be a human on the verge of turning..or for himself to feel lust. Cade has been scarred by the vampire clan before, but he has his principles and does not hurt the innocents.
But as he rescues her from miscreants, they race against time, enemies and transformation to survive..
Short, sweet with well written sex scenes and ending in HFN. I wish we had a more detailed epilogues and these mismatched pairs could breed.

Oooh, yeah! I really liked this book. It was super short. I read the entire thing at lunch today.

Hero is dark, broody and scarred so big ✔ in my book! He's hired to assassinate the heroine, a young "human" who is slowly turning into a vampire, as she is a pureblood vampire. But there is an innocence about Allison that makes Cade pause and leads to quite a sexy time for these two.

There's love and possessiveness and a werewolf determined to keep his mate safe and a vampire willing to do anything to keep her wolf safe. Great story!!!

Quotes & Faves:

Her eyes caught his—trapped him. Fuck. A woman’s eyes shouldn’t make a guy feel like she was stealing his soul with just a glance.

“Now get the fuck out of here,” he ordered. “And make sure every hunter in the area knows…stay away from what’s mine.”

He bent his head over hers. Curved his body so that he was covering her, and he leapt right through the flames. *Sawoon!*

A soul and a heart. He should have killed her, but Cade had only come alive when he met her.

“When I look at you,” Cade told her, “I see every fucking dream I’ve ever had. You make me want to be better, for you.”

This could have been a decent vampire/werewolf romance, however, it was way too rushed (only 172 pages on my Nook), and didn't give enough time for the hero, Cade, (the werewolf) and Allison, (the vampire) to really establish their unique romance. The story had good potential and as I was reading, I enjoyed Cade's alpha-bad-ass image and Allison's damsel in distress, (although clueless knowledge of turning into a full-fledged "pure-bred" vampire), persona. I just couldn't believe that two people, (or should I say paranormal beings), could be THAT connected, so quickly after only knowing one another for mere hours...much less having sex that soon! Call me old-fashioned, but I need some sexual tension, not an entire book's worth, (been there, didn't like that either), but there's a fine balance - and it's the writer's responsibility to set that "just right" pace.

I will tell you, however, that the actual writing wasn't bad and I might read another book by this author for that alone. If you're wanting immediate steamy love scenes with lots of action, this is a good choice. Unfortunately, I won't remember these characters come next week.

Allison Gray is running for her life from creatures that she never dreamed existed. Ending up in a small town in hopes to find someone who can guide her to safety, Allison finds out that the man who was supposed to protect her is actually there to kill her and that she has been betrayed by the one person she thought she could trust.
Cade Thain is a solitary wolf and a well known vampire slayer, one of the best actually, and he has no qualms about ridding the world of these parasites. When he’s hired by a witch to take out a pure blood he goes into the job thinking it will be quick cash but when he comes upon a pretty human, Cade realizes that the witch left out a few important facts.
Now Cade has a vampire on the cusps of transformation on his hands that he can’t get out of his head. But things aren’t always what they seem and they must find out who the real villain is before he or she finds them first, while fighting a fierce attraction that neither one of them ever expected.

Bound in Darkness is a fast paced, engaging novella that I flew through in a few short hours. Both Cade and Allison have tragic pasts filled with loss, and while vastly different, it brings them together. Allison drastically changes Cade’s negative view on vampires and totally turns his world upside down. I really enjoyed watching the relationship play out, seeing Allison introduction and acceptance of the supernatural world while opening Cade’s mind to something other than all vampire being purely evil. It did feel rushed in areas but that sometimes occurs with novellas, it still worked for me. =) Cade is a rough and tumble kind of wolf, a tortured hero with a gruff exterior – sexy soft interior. A very much say what you feel and screw everyone else type of guy; providing some very rawr kind of moments where you just wanted to throw him down and have at it. LoL Allison is a little naïve and could be said as being a damsel in distress but she is more than capable of taking care of herself and proves it throughout the story. I also enjoyed the little reference to Bound by Blood at the end of the novella, it was just a nice little tidbit to have tied into the story. A lot of action, some suspense, smoking sex and hot characters; Bound in Darkness may come in a small package but it packs a big punch.

Cynthia Eden is a must-read author for me and for only $0.99 you have no excuse not to get out and buy Bound in Darkness right this minute. Cheap, fast and entertaining read; what more can you ask for? While you're at it, pick up Bound by Blood too!

I'm loving Cynthia Eden's Bound series, Bound in Darkness is the second book in this series, I use the term 'series' lightly because while they all have the same theme running through them, you don't often get characters from one novella in the next one. Although they mention Jace and Morgan as the main or first vampire/werewolf bonding that other's through this series mention. These novella's can very much be read as stand-alone and read in an order. Which is great for someone like me who hardly ever reads a series in order!

Cade Thain is a serious bad-ass! He has the tattoo's and scars to prove it! Since he was a child he's hated and been hunting Vampires since they did bad, bad things to him and his pack. So when a Witch hires him to kill a pureblood Cade just thinks it's business as usual. Yet the Pureblood he's been sent to kill is still human and Cade is instantly drawn to her.
Allison, is a poor misguided human about to turn into a vampire thinking there's a cure and Cade is her saviour. Little does she know she's going to get stabbed in the back. More than once!

Allison is a great character, although she gets tricked more than once she never really lets it get her down and is always willing to fight. She'll never take what the witch has planned for her lying down!
Allison and Cade have a really complicated but super interesting relationship and it makes Bound by Darkness a really super read!

I love, love, loved this book! Hot, Alpha werewolf, sweet, innocent almost vampire, evil conniving witch. what more could you want?

Cade Thain is an alpha werewolf, an assassin and an all around bad ass. When he was only 14 years old vampires attacked and slaughters his entire pack. Cade was the lone survivor, tortured for days until his wolf finally broke free and he killed every vampire in sight. Since than his motto has been "the only good vampire is a staked vampire" So when a witch named Elsa offers him a small fortune to kill a pureblood vampire for him it is a win, win. Until he meets Allison Gray and discovers she has not even turned yet, she is still human and Cade ends up protecting her, instead of killing her, all the while his wolf is saying "MINE"

Allison Gray is a pureblood vampire, but she doesn't know it. Abandoned as an infant, the family that raised her was murdered by vampires,She never understood why they left her alive. Now she is beginning to change. She thinks she is infected from a bite she received when her family was killed. Elsa comes to her at her family's graveside and pretends to befriend her. Promising a cure and a guide to lead and protect her. What she sends is a pissed off werewolf intent on Allison's painful death. But, Cade can't kill her. Together they battle Elsa and her minions, and find a passion for eternity!

This book was full of passion, intrigue and Delicious irony. (no spoilers, but I LOVED the witches self fulfilling prophesy!)

I was buying Bound in Blood minutes after finishing Bound in Darkness! Can't wait for the next book in the series!

For those of you that know me... and those that don't this is my little statement about short books.... I do not judge short stories on the rush of their relationships, because they are just that - short stories. So, yes the relationships always could have been drawn out more, yea it seems like they fall in love to fast and of course the story could have been made longer... but it is a short story. So with that said.... here is my review...

I was given this book for an honest review and my honest thoughts, so here goes...

I have only read a couple books by Ms. Eden and I have to say that in each story I thoroughly enjoyed her writing style. I guess you can say she is a kinda new to me author because I haven't read a whole lot by her. But still... This book made me want to go find more books by her and bury myself in her worlds.

This one was no different. Ms. Eden did an awesome job at drawing me in and making me read it in a day and a half. I turned off the cell phone, put a do not disturb sign on my door till I finished this one! This story has everything that a paranormal freak like myself loves...

Vampire, werewolves and witches... Oh my!

This story completely has it all... Action, drama, suspense, kick ass people, and some serious hot sexing! Ms. Eden made me miss my first true love... My first true love of reading... What drew me into reading... She brought me back to the days when vampires turned you on, werewolves make you pant with desire... The sexual tension, the biting, the claiming, the possessiveness.... The power struggle of what one's mind knows is right compared to what one's heart wants.

This story starts off with... deal. A death deal. Elsa, who when you meet her, you think is seeking protection. The protection from one woman who would destroy her. The deal she makes may actually cost her her own life. ((But you will have to read to find out what happens)) Ms. Eden brought out the emotions of this woman. I wanted to beat the crap out of her. I did... seriously. But I have to give it her for not giving up, lol!

Cade is not a man to mess with. But believe me.... I sooo wanted to mess with him. And I know you will too! Werewolf, pure Alpha... Bad Ass with capital letters. But at the same time, he is a man with a conscience. He knows a good woman when he sees one. And believe me, when he sees Allison all bets are off the table! Deal or no deal, he is heart, soul... and other parts of his body are telling him that Allison is not as she seems to appear.. And they all want her. No matter the cost... Even if it is his own head.

Allison is the deal... Dead not alive. Allison is human - or at least she was raised to believe she was. What is she... Well, I could be mean and not tell you... But she is something I love more than werewolves... She is a vampire... But not just any old half turned vampire... Nope, she is the real deal. She is a pure blood. Can you imagine being told a lie your whole life... Not knowing your full identity. That was Allison, until she had a date with a man she never met before. A man that would turn her world upside and inside out. One that would set her blood on fire and her body a blaze. But what will it cost her to have the one thing she wants most.... Her life?

This book is an amazing story. I have to hand it to Ms. Eden.... this brought me back to the things I love! It gave me everything and left me wanting to know more... Wanting to know if more things were going to go bump in the night... Would Cade be there to defeat the bumps.... Or would it be Allison who saves his butt... Why don't you go ahead and get the book and find out for yourself... You won't be sorry!

Bound in Darkness.

Cynthia Eden is fast becoming a favorite author, so I was thrilled to see this book is out, and I wasn't disappointed.

Cade is a delightful hero - that is to say, he's grumpy, dangerous and oh so bad. Of course all his bad temper proves to be unable to resist Allison, there's just something about her that attracts him. He can't imagine hurting her even though she belongs to a race that he hates.

Allison desperately needs help. A lot of people want to kill her, Cade included. But he turns out to be a savior in disguise. I like how she tries to protect him, even though he's much stronger and meaner than her.

As always, when short stories are in question, I have some difficulties. Don't get me wrong I adore the story, the characters, but it's just too damn short for me to really get into it. And the ending is just a tiny bit rushed. Other than that everything else is OK.

I'm looking forward to reading Eden's next full-length novel Angel of Darkness with the release date of November 29th.

I really love this short story it sucks you in so fast and you can't put it down. Cythina Eden knows how to keep you wanting more sometimes I just wish they were longer.

Cade Thain is a bad ass Alpha werewolf who at 14 years old before he could even change had to deal with vampires attacking his entire pack. The tourtured all of them even the children, but they left him alive. Once he was able to change he took his revenge not just killing the vamps that attacked his pack, but he is a hired assassin. He kills as many rogue vamps as possbile he feels a staked vamp is the best vamp. Until he meets Allison. He was hired to kill her but how things change.

Allison Gray is a pure blood vamp. She knows people are after her, but she thinks its because she was bitten and infected by the vamps that killed her parents. She is on the run and her witch freind Elsa has sent her to find a very strong person who is suppose to help keep her alive. She gets to the bar not knowing who she is looking for except that he is to guide her, but finds herself in a place she doesn't want to be. Griggs is trying to man handle her when Thain comes in and immediately Griggs backs off. But Allison isn't sure she wants to go with him either, Thain is bigger and scary than Griggs. He tells her witch sent him and she is trusting and leaves with him and they get attacked in the alley by a vamp. She still isn't sure she should trust him and untill he tells her the witches name that sent him she refuses to go anywhere. Once Thain tells her she feels safe and goes with him not knowing Elsa hired him to kill her. As soon as they get to his cabin he has full intentions to kill Allison but he finds himself wanting her so bad he can't stand it. The passion build between them and he decides he can't kill her he has to protect her.

This short story is loaded with vamps, stupid humans who think they can kill a werewolf and on crazy as witch set out to kill a werewolfs mate. It doesn't end well for some.

I love her short storys and can't wait to read the 3rd one.

I have said it before and will say it again... I am a HUGE Cynthia Eden fan! She tops my auto-buy list. Which explains why I didn't hesitate to purchase this book.

With that being said...(eyes closed...holding breath) this one is not one of my favorite. Don't get me wrong it was a good read and I was totally engaged in the story until the end. (This being a true testament to Cynthia Eden being a gifted writer) I just didn't care too much for the plot regarding the vampire heroine-Allison. She did not know that she was a pure blood vampire and when she found out the acceptance of it was too fast for me.

Now Cynthia Eden knows how to write a sexy alpha wolf. Cade Thain is a scarred-mean-sexy wolf. His growls are even sexy.

I know that this is a novella but the story just seemed rushed to me. I did enjoy Cynthia Eden's first novella Bound By Blood by Cynthia Eden . Bound In Darkness missed the mark for me. : (

I also had a bad copy...my book had a lot of errors. For example, when Allison first met the hero Cade Thain she referred to him as Thain then out of nowhere she calls him Cade before he even tells her his full name. There were other grammatical errors. I am not a picky person and definitely nowhere close to being a "Grammar Girl". However, the number of errors I encountered is not acceptable for a well established-gifted author like Cynthia Eden. Based on this I give the book 3.5 stars.

My favorite quote: "When I look at you," Cade told her, "I see every fu**ing dream I've ever had. You make me want to be better, for you".

2.5 stars = pretty good. I've read all the other stories in Eden's vamp/were romances but I somehow missed this first time around. In Bound in Darkness werewolf assassin Cade - tortured by vamps who slayed his whole pack when he was young - can't resist his consuming and immediate attraction for his target pureblood vamp Alyson - who doesn't know she's a vamp and who has every reason to fear them since they murdered her parents. As much as I like enemies to lovers, in a short story that transition has to be well done for it to really work for me. However, Cade goes from kill to kiss-and-protect way too easily - and without a real trigger for his switch except for, I guess, the shapeshifter 'mate' thing - and Alyson accepts that shift easily as well - but then again she's so sweet that she fringes on TSTL and is terrible at choosing friends, so it's not too far fetched that judgment flaw extends to lovers as well.

But knowing Eden's shorts I was able to let the scrimping on story go and while it wasn't my favorite of Eden's Bound series, it was a quick steamy short story romance that fit perfectly into my busy day. For those who like lots of steam packed in a short space, the time that should have been spent on the transition is put to that use, so there's plenty to keep you happy.

Cade is a werewolf, scarred after abuse by vampires that he faced when he was younger. A witch pays for his service to kill a vampire. However, when Cade finds the vampire, Allison, she is not yet a vampire ... she's still a human on a brink of changing. Cade realizes he cannot kill her (yet) and ends up protecting her from the witch and the vampires that seem to go after her.

I liked this story better than the first novella. I read Cynthia Eden's blog that explained how the fairy tale of "Snow White" inspired this one. That instead of Prince Charming, this time Snow fell in love with the Huntsman that was ordered to kill her ... I can totally see that inspiration in this story. Including the bad witch and the use of her mirror.

I like Cade's change of heart, when he finally sees who Allison is, not just a bad vampire, but foremost a human struggling to accept her vampirism. I like how Allison grows spine when Cade's life is in danger, that she fights for what hers. I think they have better 'connection' (for lack of the better word) compared to Morgan and Jace in the first novella. However, I also feel that the length of this story makes the relationship feels instant rather than naturally developed. Thus, the so-so 3 stars.

Hired by the witch Elsa Cade Thain sets out hunting the pureblood vampire Allison Gray. Only, once he finds her and captures her does he find out she's not yet a vampire.

Taken by her appearance and innocence, Cade makes the choice to protect her when Elsa appears and refuses to follow through with their deal. Before leaving, a promise of retribution is promised for his disobedience.

Cade cannot understand why he saved this beautiful woman's life. All he should see when he looks at her should be 'vampire', but he can't seem to find it in him. After his family and pack was killed and himself tortured by vampires, Cade has never had any leniency for the blood suckers...until now when he learns not all vampires are the same.

Now, they are dealing with the attempts on her life, while trying to make their relationship work. Within a day, her vampire change has occurred and new feelings flow through her.

A battle against the witch ensues, but both fight for a future worth having. Now, not only have they got each other, but a potential friend in the vampire world.

This was a fast paced, action packed, sexy little paranormal novella, and I loved it. Cade was absolutely delicious, and Allison was likable as well. The chemistry was sizzling, and the actual storyline about the witch and other assassins, as well as the vampires on Allison’s trail kept the story moving.

I loved the hints at Cade’s background, as well as his protective instincts, and Allison’s determination to keep from becoming an “evil” vampire made me love her as well.

Recommended for fans of sexy as sin shifters, starcrossed lovers, and finding out you shouldn’t try to mess with fate. 5/5 Stars.

Ok this one wasn't AS good as the other two books in this series. I think it was because there was no history between the Cade and Allison. That is what I liked about the other two books, it made the relationship between the characters a little stronger. This was still a good story, but it was hard not to compare it to the other books in this series.

I did like how Cade became so fiercely protective of Allison. One thing I thought was missing, was there was never any talk about why she left the morning of the fire. It seems like they would have addressed that at some point. But it was never talked about. Her reasons, and Cade's reason's for wanting her to stay. I did like that they didn't instantly fall in love and say I love you at the end of the book. It was mentioned that they COULD fall in love with each other if they would allow it to happen, but they didn't actually say the words. I liked that. I hate it when a couple has been together for all of 12 hours and the author feels the need to wrap the book up in a neat little bow with I love you on top.

A really quick read. Cade is hired by a witch to kill a vampire named Allison. Only problem is that when Cade finds Allison he realizes that she hasn't even had a chance to fully make the transformation from human to vampire. Cade may have been okay with killing a vampire but he balks at killing a human who is scared to death about what she's becoming. Cade was an interesting character with a great past that motivated him to ruthlessly kill vampires. However, pairing him with the uber innocent and sheltered Allison just did not work for me. A large part of this might have been because Allison got on my nerves. She was painfully sweet and trusting to the point where I wanted to shake some sense into her. She's been running for her life for months with people at almost every turn trying to kill her. Yet she's still willing to almost blindly trust a complete stranger? I just didn't believe it. However, this was still an enjoyable short story.

I really enjoyed this book and it worked for me despite being a novella.

Cade is a bad-ass werewolf with a hatred for vampires since they destroyed his pack and tortured him so when a witch asks him to kill a pure-bred vamp he's all for it.

Allison is on the run from vampires, she is tired and scared and when a witch tells her to go to a certain place to find a protector she does and runs into some unsavory types and is rescued by a even scarier dude, Cade.

Cade cannot believe the witch tricked him into trying to kill a human, he saves her and when he takes her to a safer place discovers she is a vampire in transition but doesn't seem to know who she really is and for some reason he doesn't kill her.

The book was trade-mark Cynthia Eden, tortured characters, sizzling sexual tension and a protective alpha hero. My only complain, it ended too soon.

Much, much better than the previous. Although it is a fast-paced story, at least I wasn't in the rush. From what I read, it seemed a bit similar with the previous book. This is not me complaining. Just merely stated it and I quite liked it.

I liked Cade though. I felt bad for him at the first few chapters because he had to choose between his desire or his hatred. It was amusing to read too that he was scared shit he might lose his significant other for real. Because Allison was near close to death. Damn, it was one scary shit moment. Besides, she was in constant fear really got on my nerves but she turned awesome in the end though. That's a relief.

I, for sure, will go grab and read Book 3!

This was another short story from Cynthia Eden, and she never cease to amaze on the power she can wrap into these splendidly wrapped little stories. I loved the first book Bound by Blood, and while I thoroughly enjoyed this one as well I didn't find as spectacular. This novella seems to incorporate individuals with a little more baggage that played out nicely in the story. I love how the conclusion takes two completely different stories and entertwined them for future reads. I look forward seeing what is next for Eden's short story series.

Allison and Cade... I have no words. So amazing! Reminds me of the story of Snow White and the Huntsman. He was sent to kill an innocent, pure hearted, naive girl whom has yet to fully change into a vampire. She unknowingly trusts a witch that tells her to trust the wolf who was sent to "protect" her from all the bad vampires out to kill her. The witch's plan was for her to fall into the assassins arms and for him to slowly make her suffer. That was Cade's plan too, until he met her and found her innocence too much for him to brake. Such a great story to read!

Cade and Allison’s story was slightly different from many shifter/vampire stories I have read. Cade was hired to take out Allison, which as a vampire assassin, should be no problem. Except Allison isn't quite a vampire, not yet. The change isn't complete, and as he considers his moral duty to this still technically human being, things begin to change. This was another quick and enjoyable read. Cade was the perfect haunted and wounded hero, traumatised by a terrible past. There was plenty of action and steamy scenes. A great addition to the series.
