This is an interesting novel with dimensions of dark and mysterious underpinnings.
A secret (an unknown and tormented being) that was locked up for centuries is unwittingly unleashed. The unseen beast preys on unsuspecting souls and brings fear into the hearts of those who can sense the strange power of the entity but cannot see it.
The Nefarious: Prince of Shadow is a horror thriller that is sure to get your attention. It is loaded with unexpected twists and turns that keep you reading. I don't want to give away any spoilers but, the ending will definitely surprise you.

An intriguing story line comes through on The Nefarious. I had a hard time figuring out which way the story would go because Author Keith Weaver did a good job at hiding where he was taking the story.

Deep and dark the way a horror book should be without being bloody and gory. The history of the castle was interesting.

As we got towards the end, I found myself wondering how exactly this would all end. Just when I thought I knew, everything was turned upside down and I found myself with my mouth hanging slightly open at the final chapter.

I am not a true horror fan but I found this to be a mysterious and intriguing book from a new author. Very good Mr. Weaver - I look forward to what you come up with next.

I had some high hopes for this book after reading the description. While the premise has a lot of promise and sparked my interest, I sadly found the story lacking.

I felt like I couldn't connect with any of the characters, like they were kind of thrown together. There was very little character development and their conversations awkward.

There were also some grammatical errors (ie: lead instead of led), a lot of repeating within paragraphs throughout (ie: "She started wondering why the man was asking such questions. Who was this stranger that had come calling on them? She wanted to know who the man was, what he wanted, and why he was asking such questions.").

As a horror fan, I was hoping to be frightened or have goosebumps. Each death was basically the same, with the descriptions repetitious. I will say that Mr. Weaver did take me by surprise with the ending!

While the story was a short one (just a little over 100 pages on my Nook Color) there wasn't much depth.A few more pages of writing would of been appreciated. I do think there is a lot of potential within the pages, I would have loved to have more background. The story line really is a good one. I wouldn't not recommend this read, because I don't feel that I wasted my time at all but the read just wasn't for me.

I enjoyed this book. I truly did. I wasn't scared though like some of reviewers were. yes, the shadow in the caverns was pretty creepy, I'll give the author that. but I have read scarier.
the complaints I have for the book: there are only two. 1: a character (Rolan) seemed to come out of no where. one minute you're reading about the castle, then next there's a random guy getting out of bed. I actually had to rewind so to speak, and see if I missed something. complaint 2: on almost every page, after the author said what character was speaking or standing or whatever, thar character became 'the man' or 'the woman'. that kind of bothered me for some reason.
all in all I did enjoy this book. I wouldn't mind reading something else by this author

A pleasant surprise. Wonderful old-timey horror feel running right through it.
