About a year or two ago, I stumbled upon this book in a bookstore but didn't opt to buy it because 1) I didn't have enough money 2) I was not very familiar with veganism. After reading the essays and recipes, I'm so excited to try some of them. I enjoyed her narratives, as reading them strengthened my drive to fight for what I think is right, even if it sometimes feel lonely as a Filipino vegan. Nevertheless, reading her short stories made it seem like I had a friend and gave me hope that I too, can make a difference.
In a country where eating meat is embedded in a culture, where people eat only half the amount of the world average consumption of vegetables, where healthy diet information is drowned by ultra-processed food advertisements, it is undoubtedly difficult to find books on how to cook plant-based food. But, amidst all that noise, this book -- "Filipino Vegan Cookbook" is like a breath of fresh air.
It is mostly a book filled with recipes of Filipino dishes without dead animal flesh. The title says it all in three words - Filipino Vegan Cookbook. How can you cook the classic adobo or sisig without meat? This book will show you how.

Healthy food choices means less money burned in doctor's fees and medicines and a healthier planet Earth.
This book is available at your local bookstores in the Philippines or you can get it from your favorite online stores.
Even though there's a short note (how is it even called? educate me pls) on the cover, I still didn't expect for the cookbook to have really compelling essays. Though some of the data presented was no longer news for me, I appreciate the author's attempt on giving a clear overview on the benefits of veganism.
PS: I am not a vegan, just looking for healthier options. It's a really good cookbook! Will experiment with the recipes one of these days
