I encountered the "STEP-BY-STEP Halal Investing Guide for Beginners" video on IFG's YouTube channel and then bought this book. I am Turkish and live in Turkey. Here is my review.
Pros:
- I'm glad I read this book. It gives a basic introduction to investing. If you are completely new to this field like me, it is a good start.
- It gives you a general perspective so that you can adapt it according to your specific case. Positive.
- It is not pure 101. It gives lots of details about topics e.g. different types of startup investments, zakat calculation for different types of investments, and tax saving.
Cons:
- There are many UK-specific parts. They give some ideas but they are not fully applicable in other countries.
- As I said above, it is not totally 101. I skimmed through some sections after understanding them at a high level.
- The fonts are really hard to differentiate sections. Almost all subtitles have the same font size. For example, Chapter 14 consists of many subsections but the start and end of sections are not easy to perceive. I think this book should be reviewed by a good book editor again and the language and layouts should be improved.

I have written these same notes before. But they were erased. But I still have the books! Are you making the maid pay for the sins of the mistress? For I am only Erila reading palms and scattering seeds.

"Some back of the napkin analysis of their numbers, accounting for Muslim populations, indicates that global Muslim net worth is approximately $16,702. In other words, the Muslim community is approximately five times poorer than the rest of the world."

Very clear and split into sections for easier understanding.
One thing that struck me as strange is he chose to quite the occupation state as an example for innovation in riding the cyber security wave, when he could've just simply made do with other examples, seeing as this is a Halal investing book and the main audience is muslims who hate the occupation state.
Otherwise the entire book was informative and clear and I will use it for my investment purposes and my investing journey.

This was a really great book that provided a comprehensive look at halal investing options. I knocked off one star as they decided to mention the Zionist occupation state as an example which was completely unnecessary and didn't fit with the Muslim audience
