The Aziz family is thrown into crisis when their single mother is committed to a psychiatric hospital. She will stay there the rest of her life. Walter, the oldest, is just beginning Berkley. Lina and Donny stay behind, with Julia, Mom's best friend, who steps up to take care of the struggling family. The children all grow up, but they can never really move on with their lives, as they long for their mother to be well.
This is a sad book, which talks about a situation many families are struggling with.

Interesting characters just rather boring

A good novel about family and kids adapting to a mom with mental illness. I appreciated the character development and timeline.
