The Knight Brothers #3

For Her Protection

Rate this book
Julissa Crespo has moved through the Motsi society her whole life; her family was one of its founding members. Between overprotective brothers and a powerful father she feared mating for love was out of her reach.
Until him.
She and her bear were in complete agreement that he was theirs, they just needed the opportunity…

Rocco Jamison didn’t see mating for himself. He didn’t want to saddle someone else with his baggage. The Knights were the only family he needed, and he was content with that.

He gets assigned to her protection detail, and their close proximity has him reevaluating the life he'd planned for himself.

First of all I was smiling throughout the majority of this book while simultaneously waiting for the shoe to drop. I was pestering Dria Andersen for Rocco's book because let's say he's always been my favorite Knight brother (silent, loyal, and deadly). We finally got his backstory and while it was extremely heartbreaking I love the fact he found family in the Knights and still firmly wanted to help others who were experiencing DV. I really appreciated that his healing journey was on page and included therapy, family reassurance, and then romantic love. I usually roll my eyes when the plot is love fixes everything, that's not how that works and also puts a lot of emotional responsibility on a partner. I'm getting side tracked here but I'm just happy that Rocco's story was handled with a lot of care. That's my man. Anywho Julissa was an unexpected match but didn't play with talking down about him whether it was friends or family. Keara why you so mad and a pick me-keep being mad. I get the brother's being petty but home girl what was her problem. I'm getting distracted again, needles to say I love this entry everybody has a little spotlight and we get more insight to the work Silas does with legislation. Sanctuary cities for shifters was very interesting as the concept is under attack irl. It made me think of imminent domain in the way cities try to take back something that's already being used and needed. But sanctuary cities are apart of city's charter so the process is more political and like always corporations throw money out so they can get what they want at the expense of the people who are directly impacted. Girl eat the rich but in the meantime I would like a paperback signed copy of this book thank you. And I need more of Julian 🤷🏾‍♀️ is he getting a book?

CN: domestic violence lead to murder, alcoholism, child abuse (scars and vocal damage), women's shelters, housing insecurity, PTSD (nightmares, in closed spaces, some discomfort with new people), jealousy, sexism, gun violence

Dria!! This is one of my favorite series and i haven’t even read book four yet. She knows how to write characters along with their stories and the feelings just oozes off the pages. Love the way she writes communication between couples throughout this series. Rock Jamison i think might be my favorite. My man my man.

Rock’s story definitely captured my heart. I cried happy and sad tears in this book. I love that this man didn’t speak much but when he spoke his words meant something. He didn’t waste air “just because”. His back story and what he dealt with is something no one should have to endure. The Knight family is a true class act. Adina and Dallas have built something amazing and the way they look after Rock because that their son is beyond beautiful.

Julissa is such a strong, sassy, sweet female lead. She may be young but fierce she is. Babygirl can step in that ring and hold her own. So having someone strong like Rock made it easy to let him lead. She knew she was in good hands. Let each other be comfortable in their presence and that’s important in a relationship if you want that person to open up.

Highlights:
-The way those kids love Rock.
-Loved what he did for those mothers.
-Rock letting them twins know he ain’t no p***y.
-PD looking out for Rock.
-Rock realizing he is worth being loved.
-What Julissa said about Rock’s voice. “Don’t do that,” she said, touching his shoulder. “You don’t have to adjust your voice to me.”
-“One last time to save yourself, sug, because once i have you, I’m not letting another soul take you from me.”
-“You’re mine, and I’ll fight the world to keep you.”
-“That’s right, baby, relax and take me.”
“Nah, let me hear that shit. Tell me how good I’m making you feel.”
-“I’ll never stop you from marking your shit, sug. You smell amazing. I can’t wait to have you in my mouth.”

bears? oh my! 😆🤭

Bears and Humans both being mammals make all the sense to me in this book because of Heat (bears) and Ovulation (humans) I completely understood the need! Lmao like I too will stop at nothing during that time! But to be serious I loved how nothing could come in the way of Rocco and Julissa, not even her brothers/father. Her bear knew that Rocco was her off initial smell! Now that is something I need humans to have in real life! Lol but I loved how she didn’t care what Rocco's insecurities were, she wanted him. Once he let down his wall it was a done deal!! His relationship with the Knights I enjoyed seeing especially his relationship with Dallas❤️! I truly wish we can get more books in this series because the underlying story of shifter cities in danger still has my attention! Overall a fun, sexy shifter read with a little bit of action! Looking forward to and hoping for another book!

Papa Bear

Roc has been a favorite this entire series and the beauty of giving him his own book since the Knights see him as brother and son is touching. I love these sweet low angst, open communication stories that are made all the sweeter by the affections that come with being shifter. Dria crafted the recipe and continues to work it to perfection with each book. Never falling into repetitiveness but making sure each story continues the vibe intended. There is something special about being able to count on an author when you’re in a particular mood and Andersen is a go-to for black AF shifter romance that is sexy, feels good, and never disappoints.

I wanted to like this book more but it just never happened. It had its sweet moments between the main couple and we got to see Rock open up a tad bit more. Not much though! But to be honest, this book lacked details, romance and paranormal elements. I thought the author was going to give more details regarding the FMC’s heat but she ended up slacking on the details. We got background on rock and his childhood trauma and the only thing we got from Julissa was that she was stubborn and spoiled. Also, there was way too much focus on their jobs and not enough on them as a couple.it took away from me getting to know the couple and actually believing in their mating bond. Overall, this is an okay book and the least favorite of the series

So here I thought Mase and Silas were top tier alpha BDE vibes, and I get one raspy "they looking for you sug" from Rock on a balcony and don't know what to do with myself. Hands down, Rocco is my favorite of the Knight Brothers. Enigmatic, rugged, loyal, direct, no nonsense, no bullshit, man!

I love that Bria didn't dawdle too much on the worthiness insecurities Rock had because of the station Julissa held and I loved that it was barely even a thought, let alone concern for Julissa. These two were by far my favorite out of the novellas.

This novel contains two books as well. First up Rocco finding his mate. What was amazing about this is because this is the pov a bear shifter. It is really nice to see the difference between mating for panthers as well as bears. Rocco comes off as intimidating but for his mate he is a huge cuddle bear. He is thoughtful beyond measure and his beginning explains all you need to know about him. I would definitely recommend this novel!!!

The gentle bear

Rock!!!! The gentle bear . I enjoyed his book so much. Rock being so gentle with Liss was so sweet, the way he sent food and flowers to her.
Liss was just what Rock needed, she was supportive and loving.

can’t deny the call

Rocco felt like he wasn’t stable and worthy enough for a mate. He’d been through alot as a child and his trauma made him feel this way. Also he was a bit rough around the edges so someone of Julissa pedigree as a mate had him wanting to fight it. Julissa was a privileged woman from an aristocratic family. She was well spoken and her family was planning to marry her off to someone of influence. She just wanted to do good work in the shifter community after graduating college and the opportunity to do just that presented itself. She was not thinking about marrying nobody, but one meeting with Rocco and the mating’s pull could not be denied.
She was a talker and he was the silent but deadly type, but somehow they worked. He was protective of her and she was of him regardless of the opinions of others. I enjoyed this book.
Good read!

A delight. I am such a sucker for the big, quiet, brooding, bodyguard. A suuuuuuucker for it. And Rocco delivered baaaaaaabby. I loved that she was spoiled but not in a horrible person type of way. Everyone deserves good things and I love when people can have greatness and not feel guilty about it. He had a lot of trauma from his father being an abusive piece of shit. None of that is on page but it’s referenced. And I love a good support system. A supportive family whether by blood or by choice is my literal favorite.

Book 3 - Novella series

Dria Andersen is excellent at writing novellas. She gives enough background and does enough world building to make the characters interesting, but wraps it up neat and quick. I am so glad I found her and look forward to reading more of her work.
This installment is about the third brother, Rocco. Although he is “adopted”, he is truly a member of the family and fits right in. Babies, children and animals are rarely wrong about the goodness of a person. Great wrap up to the series.

I needed more......

After reading the 2 previous stories, I expected a bit more about Rock. Maybe not all of the gory details...... but something more to make it interesting. Part of his past was mentioned in a conversation and I needed more depth. Glad you didn't spend too much time on flashbacks and backstories like some authors. It was a decent book and glad to see Rocco get his mate.

Great story

I loved how each brother got his own story and each book let us dive into who they are a bit more. I thought I loved Mason the best but strong, silent, and sexy Rocco came along and stole my heart. Each book made me happy for the mated women. Some of the funniest moments in all 3 books were the family scenes. I absolutely adore the Knight family and can't wait to to read any future books with them in it.

A 3.9

Julissa Crespo is ready to take on the world. Rocco Jamison is perfectly fine in the shadows. It’s a good thing that they’re able to find a mate in each other.

I enjoyed this one, mostly because I’m a big fan of love at first sight. Julissa is fun, and Rocco is the strong and silent type who just needs good love. It was cute.

If you like Love At First Sight, Mates, and Bear shifters, this is for you.

Rocco ❤️😍

Julissa — the pampered princess who’s still so humble and ready to put that law degree to work! I loved her mix of smarts and softness.

Rocco had such a traumatic past, and my heart broke for him, but the way their bond helped him heal and find his HEA was everything. 🥹

Marriage contract ✅
Bodyguard romance ✅
Work trip vibes ✅
Fated mates ✅

Dria Andersen really knows how to blend love, danger, and destiny. I can’t get enough of these fated mate stories! 💕🔥

Rocco and Julissa

I absolutely loved this novella short an sweet but she still managed to fill the pages with spicy and plot.

Rocco lives his life on the distant fringes of Mosti society not necessarily engaging in all the glamour but Julissa is the only daughter born to a counsel man and is emerged in high society it’s an unusual match but who can go up against fate.

Amazing series

Love, Love, LOVE this series! The way Dria brings each character into our real world is phenomenal. The dialog kept me hollering. I loved how everyone communicated and didn't play about their loved ones. I never thought I would love reading shifter books but I'm sold! I can't wait to read all her books. 100 stars.

I appreciated the portrayal of strong black families, strong males and females. I also appreciated the considerate portrayal of intense trauma, growth and healing. The story was adequate. Unfortunately, the whole story, including characters, plot, conflict, and resolution development were below-average.

these two!

Julissa and Rocco are so stinkin’ soft with each other! I love so much about how Julissa refuses to let Rocco stay hiding in the dark and also she has his back. The way Rocco expresses his love via feeding Julissa is another favorite element of their romance. This was such a great read and the perfect book to start the year with!

Damn

I finally got a glimpse into Rocco life and I want more. I love how Liss didn't play about that man and would fight him too if he said he wasn't worthy of her. I love a woman who supports and love her man regardless of his past. Great read

not one pages wasted

I enjoy every book in this series, but this one is by far my favorite. Rocco was BAE asf with his surly self. And our sis Lissa was no slouch either. The story was adorable, hot, and entertaining; to say the least. Do yourself a favor and get into this series.

I wanted to know more about what happened with that mom to make home feel like he wasn’t worth a mate. In the end I’m glad they didn’t allow anything to get in their way of his love and protection.
