Trouble on a Country Lane
Beautiful, rich and young, for Lady Caroline, life is an easy road trip full of adventure. But when the road ends with a dead body, things quickly get complicated.
England, 1925 It’s summertime in England, and for Lady Caroline and her nimble roadster, life is as breezy and full of promise as a winding country road. Unfortunately, on the way to the latest party, the road ends with a body. And when a guest at the party dies next, Lady Caroline finds herself at a dead end. Now, devious mothers with grand designs, mysterious American busybodies, and unhelpful uncles all seem to conspire to keep Lady Caroline from uncovering the truth. With a befuddled police force, Lady Caroline must take the investigation into her own hands and unravel this frustrating tangle of events, lest the course of her life be changed forever. Trouble on a Country Lane is Book 4 of the Lady Caroline Murder Mysteries series. In the glamorous world of 1920s Europe, money and privilege rub shoulders, and greed, envy, and murder are never far behind. Follow Lady Caroline, intelligent and witty, with a fondness for breaking rules, on a fun romp through the golden age of murder mysteries. Each book contains the requisite eccentric characters, fun historical tidbits, and puzzling murders with no gore or gloom.

This was a bit slow at first. I missed the interesting locales the previous books had been set in. This time we were back in England, and Lady Caroline's Uncle Albert barely appeared at all! However, things shortly picked up and we had several interesting murders, the theft of antiquities, and a rather curious house party. I definitely didn't guess the murderer, nor did I guess some of the other mysteries. The ending was delightful, and I look forward to reading the next in the series, as it seems to be set in Egypt!

Lady Caroline is at it again!
For this forth caper Caroline isn't going abroad, but staying close to home.
Leopold, James's brother, is getting engaged and Caroline has been invited, but her mother forbids it. When a family heirloom goes missing, though, suspecting the thief is Leopold's future in laws, her mother sends her down to Kent to retrieve it. Approaching James ancestral home, Caroline finds a body, and sees James leaving the murder scene...
Who is the deceased? What was he doing there? Why was he killed? How did Daphne's father make his money? Where is the family cross? Who are the two American ladies posing as birdwatchers? Why has Daphne waited until the murder to reject Leopold?
Well rounded characters, a couple of well thought out murders, an unexpected twist make this a worthy addition to the series.

Another good story
Lady Caroline is in for a big surprise when she attends the engagement party for one of her rejected suitors. It starts off with Caroline discovered a murder man outside the front gates of a estate, then putting up with the horrible family of the proposed bride and a shocking change of the bridegroom that leaves her heartbroken add another death and you have a darn good story that will satisfy any mystery lover.

A fun romp through Kent
Isabella Bassett’s books are always a fun read.
The characters have a depth which is not often found in cozy mysteries set in the 1920s in England, and Bassett is a gem when bringing out the beauty of nature.
I do look forward to the adventures of Lady Caroline.

Interesting plot
Book 4 of the Lady Caroline Murder Mystery series lives up to the promise of it's three predecessors and then some. Plots within plots do not disappoint offering fresh insight into the English aristocracy and it's quirks. I look forward to reading more from this talented author.

A Really good read!
This is the fourth book that I have read in this series. I find them very entertaining, especially the uncle. I like how the author explains the relationship with the British social hierarchy and how it affects the characters. This book was an easy read and moved along nicely with some off mysteries and plot twists. I am looking forward to the next book.

AmericanInvaders Stir Up Trouble for James and His Family
Those fond of Lady Caroline, a “Dollar Princess”’s daughter, and her fine brain, won’t mind the several red herrings in this low key mystery in the countryside of Kent, that brings her closer to marriage with her intended.

Lady Caroline takes her fate in her own hands again. And the outcome is spectacular for her, Poppy, James and Léopold. The events take place in the summer residence of Haswells, during an engagement party of James’ brother Leopold to a wealthy American heiress.
Uncle Albert makes short but meaningful appearance in the story.

I liked this book as well as the three preceding it. The main characters grow with each adventure, the overall story grows more interesting, and the plot is full of twists, turns, and switchbacks. It is a good mystery and well worth your time and effort to read.

I don't like James and he's in this book a lot. Uncle Albert, who I do like, is mostly missing in this book, so it's not my favorite. But I like Caroline and Poppy enough to read further in this series.

A nice read
I enjoyed this country hours story.
The character of Poppy kit up the page.
Poppy was the perfect foil to Caroline.

A nice enjoyable read. Beastly once again solves the crime. A nice cozy historical mystery series centered around an English castle

A light and fun mystery with more than the normal number of eccentric characters (or maybe it is just one who is etc. eccentric that makes it seem like more than one).

Wrong again
Love this series. I always pick the wrong villain. I'm sure I will pick the correctly in the next book.

Delightful cozy series. Mysteries, Caroline's family, and locales are top notch.
Uncle Albert and the Society push these books from 4 to 5 for me.

Another outing with Lady Caroline and Uncle Albert in the beautiful English countryside for convalescence, engagement parties, meet and greets, with show and tell thrown in, sunshine,
scenery and tourists behaving undesirably.
Thank you for your words Isabella Bassett, very much appreciated. :-)
