I read both American Life in the 1990s and American Life in the 2000s and enjoyed both. Without giving too much away, these were my "growing up" decades. It was fun to revisit them and be reminded of the historical, scientific, sports, culture, and fashion happenings. The entire book is illustrated throughout with photographs from the events discussed. The main portion of the book is divided up topically and then there is a timeline combining all events at the end, with a glossary concluding the book. They're also indexed for ready reference. The series goes back to at least the 1930s (earliest decade my library purchased) and seems to end with the 2000s. At least for now. Written for middle grades readers, these books are easily accessible to a wide audience of readers.
