all the subtle foreshadowing and peeta talking about how him and katniss can finally be happy once they get home and how he never wants to be separated from her again makes me want to be electrocuted over and over again istg
4.5 stars! This was ridiculously good, especially for such an ambitious fanfic. The story is a full retelling of the entire first Hunger Games book from Peeta's perspective. And it's fully novel length, clocking in at just under 75k words. The story lines up perfectly, to the point that I was opening my copy of the actual novel a few times to read Katniss' point of view for the same chapter just to see both versions side by side. Obviously, the original series being from Katniss' perspective is essential for the story. But if you want more Hunger Games content and are a Peeta fan, this is completely worth the read!
I was so excited to read this. However, 90% of Peeta's entire personality was just about his love of Katniss and it seriously took away from the book for me.
Now if you are a fan of lovey dovey romance and people being head-over-heels for someone, this will probably be a fantastic read. It's just not my cup of tea.
I think this is a perfect example of what a retelling should be. Even though this was a fanfiction, it felt like something that the author could have truly written. I love when authors rewrite stories from different points of view, and I think with this fanfiction, it would be 100% believable if someone said the author had done it. I felt like it was enough of telling the same story you knew but with enough of a different twist to still make it interesting and entertaining. Plus I love Peeta, he is my favorite and just getting this story was an amazing thing to read.
Oh my goodness I’m am speechless. I love love loved this. My friend found it and they know how much I love the Hunger Games and this did not disappoint. I’ve book marked it in my browser to read it again.
I feel like this is as close to my headcanon as I could expect to find someone else has written. The writing is beautiful, the pace (following the original text) is magnificent, and I really enjoyed reading this right after the Hunger Games.
3.25 (?) was ok but i think he was too in love w katniss (how is that possible.. and yet here we are) a little too obsessed and pathetic. but his pov did bring up a different perspective on things that I didn’t consider ! (bread throwing her animal hate, etc)
it's hard not to compare this pov with peeta's games by igsygrace. however, i would say that i did really enjoy this one (along with the two others). i think catching fire was probably my favourite. it did at times feel like i was reading a fanfiction, rather than an actual book, and i felt the epilogue was slightly rushed even tho it did like it. overall a good read and will probs read again sometime :)
