The Art of Being Authentic: Increase Self-Esteem, Be Happier, and Discover Your Purpose” is a five-chaptered text that details author T. Mark Meyer’s emotional findings, regarding the lost art of staying true to one’s real self.

Meyer starts by recollecting his encounters with his Grade One instructor, who would always appear exacerbated by his drawbacks such as erring in the spelling of phrases. This was a situation that set sail for a full-blown disdain where the teacher emptied an entire pitcher of lemonade on his body, in the full glare of other students. The constant humiliation and contempt that followed would not only activate his performance’s abrupt drop but would raise a lasting sense of unworthiness and other additional cynical assumptions of himself.

The author discerns that these encounters not only established a life of emotional inadequacy but also an uncommon craving for all-rounded success. Meyer would become incredibly prosperous in his vocation as the managing director of a multinational corporation, but sadly would constantly find himself peeved and discontented with a myriad of things. An in-depth search into what was missing to achieve a life of absolute bliss would end at a therapy session, where his unaddressed childhood trauma got exposed, to reveal the major cause of some of his deepest apprehensions, misguided prerogatives, and forfeited ingenuity.

This is a text that readers will relate so well to, and an inspiring record that will equip them with indispensable proficiency on how to grow in the expression of their genuine selves. The book is bound to fire up its audience to make an effort to live a purposeful life, rather than a goal-driven one.

“The Art of Being Authentic: Increase Self-Esteem, Be Happier, and Discover Your Purpose” by T. Mark Meyer is a commendable five-star read, that encompasses relatable illustrations and models that readers will feel comfortable adapting for their initiatives. Its profound perspicuity is bound to annihilate anxiety, despair, and lack of self-esteem in the lives of its readers. The author hopes that encountering this well-edited publication will commemorate the day the expedition back to a reader’s authentic self started.

The Art of Being Authentic" by T. Mark Meyer is a must-read for anyone seeking to understand themselves on a deeper level and embrace their true selves.

With a profound sense of self-examination. The chapters are meticulously crafted, striking a perfect balance between practical advice and engaging storytelling.

Meyer's writing style is captivating and clear in it’s purpose. You get relatable examples that make the concepts easy to grasp. The author skillfully explores the the conflicts that arise within ourselves.

Of the many great chapters, one chapter, in particular, stood out to me, delving into the importance of recognising your feelings for what the are. Reading about soothing mechanisms that might eventually replace the pain with something else, that in the long run is not good for you, was for me where many of the great insights in the book could be applied in my life.

What sets this book apart is its ability to inspire introspection and reflection. Meyer shares personal anecdotes and examples from his therapy sessions, reminding readers that we all go through stuff in our lives and it’s possible to overcome hard times, especially if you make sure that you are living your life, and not a life that you thought was yours.

"The Art of Being Authentic" goes beyond individual transformation; it also emphasizes the significance of fostering authenticity in our relationships and in the world at large. Meyer's message serves as a powerful call to action, urging readers not only to embrace their own authenticity but also to inspire others to do the same.

In a society often driven by conformity, this book stands as a precious gem. It reminds us of the immense power and importance of being true to ourselves. I wholeheartedly recommend "The Art of Being Authentic" to anyone looking to deepen their self-understanding, enhance their relationships, and make a positive impact in the world. Prepare to embark on a life-changing journey of self-discovery and personal growth.

This was the second audio book that I’ve listened to and I would have to say it was just so-so for me. It had some good points and then a lot of personal opinions I felt. I’d still say worth the read/listen to though!
