Canadian human rights activist Yasmine Mohammed advocates for the rights of women living within Muslim majority countries, as well as those who struggle under religious fundamentalism anywhere. Yasmine is the founder of Free Hearts Free Minds, the only non-profit organization dedicated to supporting those who renounce Islam across the globe, especially those within Muslim majority countries where the state-sanctioned punishment for leaving Islam is execution. Today she lives in Canada with her two daughters, who let their gorgeous hair flow, and with her loving, supportive husband who had no idea what he was in for when he married her almost two decades ago.

Absolute Leseempfehlung für dieses Buch!
„Unwissenheit ist mittlerweile eine Entscheidung.“
Dieses Buch hat heftige Gefühle in mir ausgelöst. Wie kann ein Mensch nur so traumatisch aufwachsen (eine bittere Realität für so viele Frauen!) und sich unter Lebensgefahr von diesem Leben befreien? An die Öffentlichkeit zu gehen mit ihrer Geschichte ist gefährlich und umso mutiger. Aber es gibt sie, diese Stimmen!
Viele Menschen im Westen haben eine vereinfachte Sicht auf diese Thematik und aufgrund der „kulturellen Freiheit“ und aus Angst man könne es als Rassismus auslegen, schweigen wir.
„Das Recht auf Religionsfreiheit darf die Menschenrechte nicht aushebeln. Ich hoffe, dass die Menschen begreifen, dass so etwas nicht nur schlimm und rassistisch ist, sondern unmenschlich.“
