There is no force greater than a strong woman's will—not even time itself.

686 AD

She is a woman ahead of her time.

As the sister of the powerful King of the Picts, Murielle Mac Cuill is expected to marry strategically. Clan feuds threaten their borders, and Murielle understands her she must marry a rival king to solidify peace. But when every king falls short of meeting expectations, Murielle dares to pursue the man she truly desires. Her brother and her guard both found happiness with travelers from the future. Now, it’s her turn.

Since the day Samuel stepped onto their land—and into their time—Murielle has been drawn to him and his tales of the future. She is strong-willed, curious, outspoken, and intelligent—an unfortunate combination of attributes for a woman to possess in her era. But Samuel respects her free spirit, and Murielle is determined to marry him and live in 2023… until the day an unexpected visitor arrives from the south. His name is Aldfrith, King of the Britons, and much to Murielle’s dismay, he’s a perfect marriage match. A union between the Picts and their southern rivals would lay generations of feuding to rest. He’s handsome, intelligent, and progressive. His only flaw is the one Murielle cannot he isn’t Samuel Sullivan.

He is a man trapped by time .

Archaeologist Samuel Sullivan has been stuck in the same time loop for more lives than he can count. In every lifetime, he is born remembering his he must unite the warring Celtic clans so they will one day form a united Scotland. He always succeeds at achieving peace, but does he ever succeed at finding love? Cruelly, he has no memory beyond saving the timeline, and pursuing the woman he desires may destroy everything. His love for the king’s sister is dangerous, for she must marry a king, and he cannot intervene.

When Murielle runs out of proper suiters, Samuel allows himself to hope for a future with her—until King Aldfrith arrives. Regarded as prosperous, fair, and revolutionary, King Aldfrith may be the Pict's greatest chance at securing peace with their southern neighbors. If Murielle is meant to marry King Aldfith, Samuel must walk away to prevent destroying all he’s worked hard to create... even if leaving means destroying his chance at happiness.

Bereft and brokenhearted, Samuel returns to 2023, desperate to focus on work and move forward without Murielle. But Murielle will not simply let him walk away from the life they both want. If he insists on returning to his time, she will follow him to the future. Is Murielle Mac Cuill prepared for the year 2023?

A Unique, Well-written, Engaging and Fun Ending to Pict by Time

Where the Ocean Ends is a delightful and unique time travel story that breaks the mold of the all-too-repetitive plot lines of the fiction that has flooded the genre. The first novel of the series, Where the Thistle Grows was an intriguing start to the trilogy, but, due to the complexity of the plot (in my opinion), suffered from some problems in execution. I was left a little frustrated.

But, I pushed on and read the second book in the trilogy—Where the Stars Lead—because the storyline of the first book was so interesting. The plot of the second book was much more straightforward, and the writing and editing was very good. I also loved both of the lead characters, Emilie and Goodwin. They each have great personalities and charisma, and have good sexual chemistry between them. I also really enjoyed the relationships between Emilie and her BFF (Caitriona) and Goodwin and his BFF (Brodwyn); they have both seriousness and humor, are used creatively to move the plot along, and resist becoming formulaic. WTSL was a fun book, not as unique as the first and the third in the series, but it was an important piece of the narrative.

Where the Ocean Ends, the third piece of the trilogy, was a wonderful five-star conclusion. Our protagonists, Samuel and Murielle, are both sweet, complicated, lovable, stubborn, sometimes frustrating, but very human characters which makes us root for them from the very first page. Their challenges are great and unlike any other time-travelers I’ve read about. But their aspirations are also great—they both have hearts of gold and put the needs of others first, often to their own sadness.

There are lots of great little sci-fi twists spread throughout the books, such as, literally, how fast time passes when the characters are in the modern and medieval eras (an interesting philosophical point of you stop to think of it :). There are ghosts and repetitive (and I mean repetitive!) time loops. Travelers must confront the question of souls inhabiting more than one body during any given time period. Lots of fun things to think on!

The conclusion of this story is unexpected in a number of ways, and doesn’t take the typical time travel novel route. Variety is the spice of life! I definitely recommend this trilogy, and I look forward to reading more by Ms. Price.

This book time travels to 686 AD which was unique for me since I haven't read much historical fiction from this time. The magic of the cave on the ocean was an interesting twist and the fact that Sam travels through every weekend to visit. This isn't exactly a standalone novel which I discovered after starting it. A lot of the details from previous books in the series were a total mystery as was the fact that Sam and Murielle already had a relationship in the beginning. I plan to go back and read the series in order so it makes more sense to me but I was satisfied with the storyline and it piqued my interest enough to want the whole story.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

BOOK: Where the Ocean Ends
AUTHOR: Mia Pride
SERIES: Pict by Time, #3
LENGTH: 242 Pages
PUBLISHER: Dragonblade
OVERALL RATING: 5/5

The book’s sister of the powerful King of the Picts which readers met in the first book ‘Where the Thistle Grows. Murielle Mac Cuill is expected to marry for the duty of her clan. As Clan rivalries threaten their borders, and Murielle knows she must marry a rival king to solidify an alliance. Except all these kings are not what is good enough. Murielle has dealt with enough and decides to go after the man her heart wants. Her brother and her guard both found true love with future travelers now it was her turn!

Samuel stepped into their time and Murielle was instantly drawn to him and his tales of the future. She is beautiful, outspoken, and intelligent and not shy. A bad combination for this time period. She would be better

Samuel enjoys her free spirit, and Murielle is determined to marry him and live in the twenty-first century in the future! Everything was perfect until an interloper came and ruined all of her fine plans! His name is Aldfrith, King of the Britons, and unfortunately he’s her equal marriage match.

This marriage between the Picts and their southern rivals would end the battles and bloodshed for generations where peace was finally a reality. He checks all the boxes as the future travelers would say. He’s handsome, intelligent, His only flaw is the one Murielle cannot, he is not Samuel the man she loves and desires and ready to give up everything for him.

Again Mia Pride blows me away with another passionate time-travel that I absolutely loved! Her spellbinding stories absolutely blow me away. It is a book readers do not want to miss and a book I highly recommend. I love listening to Bonjovi when I read her wonderful books! :)

Where the Ocean Ends by Mia Pride is a time travel novel. Unlike most romance time travels, this one is about a man in a loop, his lady love back in 687, and others traveling as well, although they stayed in the past. Samuel Sullivan had a mission: save the timeline by making sure King Brodyn Mac Cuill, one of the last kings of the Picts, in what is now Scotland, married the correct woman. King Aldfrith is the last of many kings who had come to call in hopes of winning the and of the king’s sister, Murielle, who was in love with Sam and he with her, although they had not yet declared. Aldfrith was the first decent candidate for her hand. The rest had been old and gross. But, Sam knew that this was an important king and if it was meant to be, he had to let her go. He had never checked the history books to see who he married. An oversight on his part. She had followed him to 2023 and he found her one night huddled on his front stoop. Things escalated from there.

There were myriad complications including Murielle’s upset at how incorrect the world’s knowledge was of the Picts. Few people knew the truth, but those that did, helped. Sam was a terrific character; one who had been time traveling for many lifetimes. Was that because he had not met his destiny? Was Murielle his destiny? When one thinks about traveling back in time and fitting in, it is mind blowing. But think, for a moment about traveling forward 1300 years and fitting in. Murielle was able to accomplish that, with help, of course. She was an amazing character. Time travel fascinates me. I wonder if, even theoretically, this amount would be possible or would it really upset the universe. It was an interesting conundrum as well as a pretty good love story.

I was invited to read a free e-ARC of Where the Ocean Ends by Dragonblade, through Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #Dragonblade #MiaPride #WhereTheOceanEnds

This is the third book in the series & whilst it could be read on its own I’d recommend reading in order to fully appreciate it also this is one brilliant series. The characters ooze depth, the pace flows effortlessly. I was taken on a gamut of emotions from laughing to shedding a tear & finally having a smile on my face. I loved both Samuel & Murielle & absolutely loved their story & highly recommend not only this book but the whole series

Book 3 is a fabulous conclusion to the series with plenty of unexpected plot twists, emotion and drama.

Murielle, Pict Princess, is captivated by tales of the future and in love with time traveller, Samuel Sullivan. She is expected to marry a king to solidify a marriage pact between tribes to enable peace and prosperity for her people. She’s been able to turn away all the previous Royal suitors, but the most recent suitor is completely acceptable causing Murielle heartache at having to give up her dream of living in the future with her love, Samuel.

Samuel fell in love with the gorgeous, independent, and kind-hearted princess when he first visited 2 years ago. He isn’t willing to upset the timeline and is determined to suffer heartache if Murielle marries a king.

What the heart wants, fate and a stubborn princess all come together to create a unique time travel tale of a Picture Princess traveling 1300+ years into the future to seek out the man she loves.

Definitely read these books in order to avoid any storyline confusion and to beat enjoy the incredible weaving of characters and story into a breathtaking story.

This 3rd book had me laughing and sighing, and even frustrated at times when the characters got caught up in totally realistic circumstances that delayed the HEA. I promise you the angst and frustration is all worth it, because I loved the ending.

I’m hopeful for more books in this series, mostly to learn more about Caitriona and Broydn’s lives and their family.

I received a free ARC from the author and NetGalley; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.

Such a wonderful series that will pull you in from the beginning. I've read the whole series and it can be a stand alone but think you'd appreciate all the stories. So very unique and I loved that some could go back and forth over 1300 years.

Not everything is as you think so be prepared for some twists and turns that I didn't see coming. Story has suspense, strong main and secondary characters, intrigue, great banter and humor too.

Lovemaking outside and within marriage heat level 4 out of 5. I didn't find it erotic but filled with love and passion that was 2 years in the making.

Something happens between the H/h and the h reacted just as I thought she should. The story is about love through time and how precious it is if you find your soulmate. Also, what lengths you'll go through to keep it.

No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, romantic, and we're treated to 6 months in the future that answered all my questions. I can't improve on the blurb, just giving you some extra tidbits to decide whether to purchase this unique story and series. (ljb)

I've really enjoyed this series so far - learning more about a time that's not usually included in historical fiction. I was a little unsure of the relationship between Sam and Murielle because we don't know his true age until this third book and I thought he was much older than her. That being said, I was curious about someone coming forward in time as characters typically go backwards. Overall I liked the book, although there were a few things about it that didn't sit great with me (Eva), we learn the fate of this family. I just wasn't as invested in these characters as the last. 3.5 stars from me.

Samuel Sullivan has been a time traveller for a while. He has visited the Pict tribe in the seventh century several times. One person in particular draws him to keep going.

Murielle is a Pict princess and knows she must marry a king to help her people. All of her suitors so far have been awful.

This time travel romance is part of a series that I think should be read in order to understand properly.  Our characters are used to putting the needs of others above their own. One wrong move could cause terrible problems.  Lots of adventure, emotion and some big surprises.

Good fun.

WOW! Amazing!

I love this time travel! The story is excellent! Although I wasn’t drawn into the romance of Samuel and Muriell but it was okay. But I was intrigued by the idea behind the time travel and that kept me turning the pages until 2 a.m. and no longer able to hold my eyes open! Actually as far as the romance plot the first book of this series wins for it and the time travel over the others. But the storyline of the time travel is the best I’ve read in all three books.

Present versus Past

A well written time travel series involving real locations as well as some historical events and people. Characters have choice to make between the years 2023 and 686 with both times offering benefits. Romance, danger, hard decisions abound. I highly recommend the series and wish there were a sequel.

Where the Ocean Ends (PICT by Time Book 3)

Murielle from year 685 was in love with Samuel a time traveler and from year 2023. Sam was in love with her too. Murielle is a princess but she wanted to go where the ocean ends to be with Sam. With family and friends she ended up with proof of the Pits history and lived in the future.

Fantastic Book

Wonderfully written with each of the characters coming into the story, yet you don’t read any redundancy as you find most times. Written so we’ll you would actually believe all of the events depicted in the story actually happened. Maybe some day you’ll see Murielle and Sam standing on the shore of Moray.

great series

A great ending for the series with the story of Sam and Murielle. Would have loved to see the series continue, as I hate to see a good story end. This is not my usual genre and it was on my TBR list for awhile. Glad I read it and will check out more of Mia’s books.

Time travel.

From 686 to the future this time. Continues the revolving fickle cave door to eras past. Who will and won't be let through.
Fair finish to the first books in the series.
