A heartbroken widow. A husband’s secret legacy. Olivia and her friends must solve the mystery of what her husband didn’t tell her before he died.
Olivia Crawford had every intention of selling the old Barker place when she returned to Echo Key to see the falling-down old mansion her late husband bought. It was supposed to be where they would spend their sunset years together, fulfilling his dream of becoming an innkeeper. Instead, it’s a reminder of the nightmare that stole her beloved, leaving her alone.
Well, not alone. She has her best friend, Jen, and her dear aunt, Coretta, with whom they spent so many summers in Echo Key as children.
No one is more surprised than Olivia when Jen, whose own heart is hurting after a nasty divorce, convinces her to fix it up and run the inn together. It’s a crazy plan, and Olivia doesn’t do crazy. Her partner in life was the dreamer.
Olivia just hopes that keeping his dream alive will be the best way for her to live without him. And maybe find new happiness in the Florida haven that is Echo Key.
Dolphin Cove Echo Key Haven, book 1 Echo Key Secrets, book 2 Echo Key Whispers, book 3 Echo Key Legacy, book 4 Echo Key Promise, book 5 Echo Key Wedding, book 6
My first read by Prescott, but not my last. I loved this book, I never put it down until the last page a fun fast read and great writing and plot. I was left hanging at the very end so I can't wait to read book 2 in the Dolphin Cove series. 4 stars from this avid reader. The Mary Reader received this book from the publisher for review. A favorable review was not required, and all views expressed are our own.
When tragedy strikes Olivia must make some difficult decisions. When the time comes will she be able to make the right choice?
This was an entertaining read, and I found the characters in this one to be amusing. Gus, Deke, and Coretta we’re especially fun to read about! I enjoyed the concept of a large mansion being renovated into a bed and breakfast and found the descriptions of the rooms to be humorous as the ladies walked through the house.
There was also a bit of mystery to the house itself, which was touched in in this one but seemed to be part of the larger overall plot of the series. There was also a bit of mystery on a smaller scale where the growing crime in the neighborhood was causing some conical conversations from some of the senior ladies in Echo Key. I enjoyed Coretta’s relationship with Olivia, as well as Olivia’s friendship with Jen. They made for an interesting dynamic and kept the story interesting.
Overall, the story was a bit slower and not quite as deep as I normally read but was fun as a quick weekend or vacation read. Even though it starts a bit slow, it does offer a good beginning to what is likely to be an enjoyable series.
*I was sent an eCopy from the author. This does not affect my review. This review is voluntary.*
I... I remember now why I don't read Women's Fiction, it just doesn't make for a good fit. The story was okay, there was the whole praying to the universe things, extensive amounts of gossip, girl talk, and drooling over "hunks" after rants about swearing off men since they are clearly all "pigs", and the constant need for a sign from the universe (or a member of the dead) among all the other expected types of excitement in the genre, but it just doesn't make for an enjoyable read.
I did like Deke and Coretta (to a point) and didn't hate the story for what it was, but spent most of the book bored and unsure as to why many of the details and situations or conversations included were needed, and not really ever feeling engaged or connected to the story or characters. It was an okay story (if a little predictable) and made for a quick read, but just really wasn't my cup of tea.
Echo Key Haven - The wonderful relationship between the BFFs kept my interest in this story. Their deep friendship, funny dialog and strong support for each other, along with the good story lines made this a hard to put down read. While the renovations are still in progress, this book is not a cliffhanger, but it does set up the second book, Echo Key Secrets.
The aunt is also a good addition to the core characters along with the deputy and the contractor. I like that the women notice the men but not with lust in their hearts. In other words, letting friendships build between them instead of that "he's so hot and instant love" garbage. 5*
I would firstly just like to say a big thank you to the author who very kindly forwarded me an arc copy of her book, for my kindle, in return for my honest review.
This book is book number one in a new series and i honestly cannot wait to read more of them.
It grabbed me in right from the very beginning and i soon found myself turning the pages faster and faster so that i could find out what was going to happen next.
Echo Key Haven is a story about strong friendships and the wonderful storyline kept me hooked.
This was a new author to me and i am so pleased that i gave her book a try because i thoroughly enjoyed it.
Echo Key Haven by Katie Prescott - Dolphin Cove, book 1.
An entertaining story about a 50 something woman who after her husband dies unexpectately decides to continue to follow his dream of owning and operating a Bed and Breakfast/Inn. Her best friend joins her into partnership of renovating and running this venture. There are charming characters, interesting family members, reconnecting with childhood friends, the required odd characters, a small seaside town, possible love interest for a slow burn romance in later books in this series. A nice read.
The first book in the Dolphin Cove series, I hope the next book is out soon. What trouble is Olivia Crawford's sister Maggie in? Olivia, Deke, Jen, Coretta, Deputy Theo, and the rest of the town's ups and downs and the renovations to the B&B make for a very good start to this series. This is a new Author to me, and this book looks to be her debut story. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Olivia and Jen have been friends since they were children. This makes for a great start for this series. They have both had tribulations in their lives and have helped each other through. Don't want to put spoilers in. There are enough hints AR things down the road for several stories. Bring them on, Katie
This would make a great beach read. This book has a lot of different experiences from a grieving widow and her best friend in bark on a new journey as inn keepers. While the renovations get underway a mystery of burglary strikes hotels in the area. Romance is on the horizon. I enjoyed this book and can't wait to read book 2.
After her husband’s sudden death, our heroine decides to fix up the B&B that her husband bought before he died that needs a total revamp. This book is full of fun , filled with a best friend, a beloved aunt, good childhood friends, and a few other funny characters thrown in. Worth the read!
I’ve been reading since I was 3 years old. I enjoy mostly legal thrillers, with a financial twist, because that’s my career path. I’ve seldom been as disappointed in a book as I was in this one. Read the sequels? Not in a bet. Too many really good books out there! Good reading to you all!
I read alot so.I'm.always excited.to.read a.new author. I.love contemporary women stories . I love the characters and beach.location. I will.read.this.whole series
