Geranium by Xiomara Moreno is a delirious comedy, as much as its characters. A man who arrives at a mental sanatorium convinced of his excellent health and capacity for reasoning, but, being in a special wing of the place, reserved for only three guests, begins to doubt if those who are there are not much healthier than himself and begins to perform a demonstration for those who observe them, but the experiment gets out of hand and will make him live a fantastic scene. The puns, the situations and the unusual outings will make the public also doubt themselves and want to see it more than once.Premiered in 1988 with the Theja Group, in the Horacio Peterson Room of the Ateneo de Caracas and the following year in the Rajatabla Room within the International Theater Festival of Caracas, directed by the author herself.Presented in Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, in 1990 under the direction of the Brazilian Rubén de Lima.In 1990 the Spanish Television (TV España) recorded the complete montage of the play Geranio for the theater program of the critic José Monleón.New montage at the TNJV of Valera, 1995 directed by the Cuban Carlos Celdrán.Presentation at Casa América in Madrid, 2002 directed by the Spaniard Luís Araujo.In 2009 and 2010 there were seasons of the play in the Sala Espacio Plural of the Trasnocho Theater and Room 2 of CELARG, directed by Javier Vidal, with the JFK Group.In March 2023, within the Festival of New Theater Directors in the Espacio Plural room of the Trasnocho Theater, it was again directed by Jorge Rivero.Translated into English, French, Portuguese and Italian.
