An anthology of short science fiction stories all about young people. My favorites were "Wingless on Avalon", "Half Life", and "Wake up to Thunder". Wake up to Thunder is surely the story that inspired the popular movie trilogy "The Matrix". These short stories are like taking a bite of something delicious when you're hungry. They taste extra good, and leave you wanting more. I want more.

Thanks Doug!

I really liked this collection of short stories back in the 1970s as a young teen. It was probably my first science fiction book and it was/is a good introduction to the genre for young readers. I came across it recently in my collection and was excited with the idea of reading it again. I was not disappointed. A few of the stories I had remembered all these years later; it was very enjoyable to revisit them as well as getting reacquainted with the ones I had forgotten.

When I was a kid, I loved reading these short stories. I made the mistake of loaning this book to a former co-worker and I never got the book back, so I can't remember the exact titles of the short stories. One of my favorites was about a time traveling brother. Another involved the first baby born on another planet and brought back to earth. The stories are diverse in their approach to science-fiction, so it's a perfect introductory book for the genre for young readers.

Read only the short story Wake Up to Thunder by Dean Koontz, a dystopian tale of waking up from the "hive", a la The Matrix. Well written for his early 70s work.

This book is out of print. You can borrow my copy if you want to, it took me a few years to find it. I had read these stories a long, long time ago when my Mom bought a copy from D.I. The book was long lost, and after many years I found a copy in a friend's used bookstore and bought it for $2.

I would rate 3 of these stories with 4 stars (Time Brother, All You Can Eat, and Wake up to Thunder), but the others I would rate 3 stars. Some 2.
