Sleigh rides, hot cocoa, and Santa parades make a Christmas vacation exciting.
Until visions of embezzlement, family feuds, and murder spark flames that even Smokey the Bear can't put out.
Will Caribou Cabin have more to clean up than just reindeer poop?
Here's what one reader "This is a great series! It is light, full of interesting characters and a deep dark mystery! It made me laugh and want to keep reading. I can't wait for the next one. The Whoopee Group is quite the mystery solving team!
Lainey was looking forward to a holiday vacation and volunteering with her friends to help Shep Morton's army friend at his lodge in Northern Minnesota seemed to be the answer. She could be a Whoopee Merry Maids for a week or two. After all, cleaning a few cabins is no big deal.
But chestnuts weren't roasting on the fire once the new case assignment came in.
Reindeer Lodge had been a local favorite resort for years. People came from across the country to enjoy great food and Christmas cheer. But rumors of embezzlement and love affairs aren't the usual stories shared around the campfire. Throw in the suspicion surrounding the untimely death of a beloved young financial planner and jingle bells no longer ring merrily.
Lainey's intuition had her skin tingling from the moment she spoke with Snoops. Why was he concerned about this murder investigation?
Her keen wit, tenacity, and determination had kept her safe in the past. But will her sharp tongue and stubbornness make her the target of a killer?

While this is the fourth book in this series, it is the first one I've read. It was an "okay" read, but I did not find it outstanding in any way. It had the expected characters; the young woman who gets involved investigating a crime, her helpful girl friends, a protective man (in this case two-her mentor/boss, and a local police officer). There were also two good-looking males to be possible love interests. The plot was easily followed, and the "bad guy" was pretty obvious fairly early on to someone who reads a lot of mysteries. It certainly wasn't awful, and reading it is a pleasant way to spend an afternoon or two. If I come across another book in the series, I might read it to see if the writing has improved as it had potential.
I can’t put them down. Lainey and the Whoopee girls are involved in another murder mystery. Lainey investigates fraud for a living and sometimes gets more than she bargained for. I hope there are more in the series
I have not been reading this series, but added this to my reading for the holidays. Basically, however, the only Christmas in this is in the title and four reindeer who reside at the lodge setting. The book is heavy on mystery and short on the atmosphere, setting, and romance that usually accompany a cozy mystery. There’s little background to let the reader know about the group of friends with Lainey, but the story stands alone. But a holiday read it’s not.
