This was a fantastic book of trivia on murder both real and fictional. The way the book was laid out was on the seven deadly sins. Each chapter was titled with one of the sins: Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy, and Pride. Then each chapter gave murders for each sin. I like this, but my favor thing was I learned some new trivia about murders most foul. Now I don't want you to think this was a gore fest it wasn't. In fact it was very tastefully done. There were a few place that got a chuckle out of me from the quotes laced in the books. This is a book for the fan of literary murder mysteries.

A quick and fun romp through the world of murder, via the lens of each of the 7 deadly sins. Great little tidbits on how real life murders have affected pop culture and vice versa. Chock full of humorous quotes and fascinating trivia. A most for true crime, and/or mystery/thriller/cozy fans.

I won this signed copy in a Goodreads First Reads Giveaway. Thanks, Stephen!

A Miscellany of Murder is a reference and trivia offering from The Monday Murder Club, and I think you can tell they enjoyed putting this together. The book is divided into chapters titled after the Seven Deadly Sins, with book recommendations, a spot light on a real crime that falls under that sin, quotes, lists of televesion shows and movies based on books, etc.

Fans new to the genre will learn some of the history of the crime/P.I./police procedural/ courtroom novel, as well as some new auhors to explore. If you have been reading these books for years, you will still find new books or authors, discover some of the famous cases of the past that are still influencing authors today and take your best shot at some trivia based on books, authors, crimes, and criminals.

Fun!

It's a trivia book. It's not really a "read", if you've ever gone through this type of book. Some interesting factoids, some that seemed completely out of place.
