With emerging talent Christopher Steininger, Damon Hurd presents a play staged on paper. Through an insomniac's waking dream we witness a surreal therapy session in which he finally confronts the manifestation of his anger and lament, a demon that has plagued both his days and dreams for far too long.
I'll give the writer credit on the play staging idea and the story could've been great but he bungled it here, there and everywhere. The ingredients were mixed terribly and I was confused the entire time. I didn't know the whos, whats or wheres or what he was trying to say without mental algebra and was left with basic questions unanswered at the end. ->I put tremendous effort into barely understanding and wish I could get the time and money back.
What the artist was trying to achieve with the dream blurriness and line sketchery didn't work- you have to be much better at rendering such things to pull off vague and ugly. There wasn't a single page I enjoyed.
