About the author

Yael Hedaya was born in Jerusalem in 1964, and now lives in Messilat Zion. She holds a BA in philosophy and liberal arts from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and received an MA in English literature and creative writing from New York University. Hedaya has worked as a journalist and columnist for the mass circulation daily Yedioth Ahronoth and the Tel Aviv weekly, Ha'Ir. She was also one of the head writers of the acclaimed TV series In Treatment adapted by HBO. At present, she teaches creative writing at the Hebrew University and screenwriting at Sapir College. Hedaya was awarded the Peime Minister's Prize in 2001, and her novel, Accidents, was a finalist for the National Jewish Book Award in 2006.

פעם שניה שאני קוראת את הספר הזה, הראשונה הייתה לפני שנים. אני זוכרת שאני אוהבת את יעל הדיה אבל באמת למעלה מעשור לא קראתי את הספרים שלה. זכרתי את הספר אחרת אבל נהניתי מאוד.
קבוצת הורים נפגשת עם פסיכולוגית לא קונבנציונלית פעם בשבוע ואנחנו נחשפים למונולוגים הפנימיים של חלק מהמשתתפים - דורי ההומו, זוהר החד הורית, גליה השמנה שהילדה הדחויה עוד חיה בה, דני מהפרברים ואילן התסריטאי. תכל אחד מהם חשוף, מעורר רחמים, לא יפה ולפעמים אף דוחה ובכל זאת אי אפשר להוריד מהם את העיניים. היא כותבת אותם בצורה קולחת, אמינה, עם קונפליקטים פנימיים וטראומות שמכתיבים את ההורות שלהם ואת הזוגיות שלהם וגם את החיים הפנימיים שלהם ומוליכה אותם בתוך ובין המפגשים מבלי שבאמת קורה משהו, למעט בין אילן לבנו מיכאל במסע שלהם יחד ברכב בסוף הספר.
הדמות של עלמה הפסיכולוגית גם היא בעיניי דוחה, אפילו מניפולטיבית, ולמרות המונולוג שלה בסוף שהוא ההתחלה אנחנו לא יודעים עליה כלום אלא דרך איך שהדמויות האחרות חוות אותה.

ספר כתוב היטב, על אנשים. פשוט ככה.

I liked it! It's about parenting counseling sessions, various patients and their stories. Recommended! :) I guess only for those who know Hebrew...
It's a bit depressing like most Hebrew books... The ones that I read anyway.
