Lara has loved books since the days of being read bedtime stories by her Irish dad and French mum. At school she set up a secondhand bookshop called Books Change Lives, and went on to study English and Italian at Oxford University. After teaching in Italy and Myanmar, she got her dream job as a writer for Usborne Publishing. From explaining how economics works, to inventing boredom-busting activities, to telling a good dragon yarn, she's enjoyed every minute of the job.
We have so so so many books on the human body and so there is a lot to compare to and I have to say - the kids and I really enjoyed this one! I think it is perfect for preschool - 1st (ish). There is a good amount of information without being too overwhelming, some interaction throughout the text, lots of great examples for kids to compare themselves to and to help them understand the material on a deeper level. Super fun illustrations and *just* enough technical terms to pique their interest without overwhelming them. I like the thicker board like pages and the pockets of information (instead of long, drawn out paragraphs) that peppered the pages. Both kids were paying attention and asking questions the whole time - and we read the book in one sitting (usually we just read a couple of pages of non-fiction a night). Definitely recommend for younger kids interested in the human body and how it works!
