This is a good book and a great start for this trilogy. I've recently started reading this author and I've enjoyed all the books I've read so far.
This series is juicy roller coaster drama that is also hot. This author is really good with writing complex/damaged alphas and good, strong women in all of her books.
The Heist is the first book in a trilogy that will capture your attention right from the start. I am so glad Sienna Mynx decided to tour with FMB because I would never have heard of this series. This book is so crazy with the highs and lows and the secrets and lies you will turn the pages and soon realize that you can not put this book down. The love and passion in this book was off the hook as well. I sometimes don't read adult books because it seems like things are forced and rushed but Michelle and Lee had to work st things and uncover things just to be together.
Michelle Dixion is a girl caught in her fathers life style. Her father is the notorious jewel thief Pop Dixion. Michelle is known as Chocolate to the underworld and she is just like her father. He wants to conquer her sexually and emotionally. Michelle tries to fight it at first but there is use because fate has something different in store for them. As things start to heat up for them lies and secrets that Lee has kept are coming back to haunt him and he is afraid he will lose Michelle.
What will Lee do when the dust settles and the truth is coming to the forefront? Will Michelle be with him or will she move on?
I knew Sienna Mynx wrote erotic romances. Her Battaglia series were excellent, full of erotic romance but with fully developed plots, strong characters, drama and intrigue. Above all, once you started reading them, you couldn't put them down. The Heist was so slow that I bought this book in 2015 and just forced myself to read and finish it, after putting it down and starting over many times.
The book has an interesting plotline but was overwhelmed by erotic sex that bordered on porn - there was nothing romantic about this book. The book and characters were full of lies, deceit, and revenge, so much so that you couldn't develop a passion for anyone. You simply disliked them all.
There are two other books in this series but thIs one doesn't make you want to read them. All three books could have been combined into one. Had I not already read the Battaglia's and the Casino Boss series, I wouldn't be interested in reading anything else by this author. Those books show that Sienna Mynx is a great writer of sensual, erotic romances.
Save your money on this series and start reading the Battaglia series - the first one Destino is only 99 cents, the same price as the Heist but a far superior book.
This was a well written story with good strong characters. The opening scene with the sister, Sasha and Lee was a bit disturbing. But, it is what it is right maybe it will be off significance later on in the series. There was a lot packed until this short part and I'm hoping you receive closure in the next two books.
This was a very good Romantic suspense novel that kept me on the edge of my seat. It had all of the ingredients to keep me turning pages, like a sexy alpha male who gets put in his place by a feisty heroine, family secrets, a little bitch slapping, deceit, hot sex and secrets for days.
Michelle has been in love with Lee since she was sixteen years old, but when she came of age, he rejected her and now Lee wants to rectify that by using Michelle's love for her sister to draw Michelle back into her previous life of crime and to him. Although he doesn't want anything serious with Michelle, he wants to use her to get revenge for her father's betrayal. Lee is all about revenge, but when feelings get involved, his priorities change and he has to fight to keep Michelle by his side. He's used to getting what he wants, but Michelle isn't having it. She's nobody's fool. She wants a normal life, with the white picket fence and kids and she knows Lee can't give her that. He can only give her a life of lies and a broken heart. I can't wait to see how Lee wins Michelle back and to see how these two get their HEA after all of the illegal crap they're into.
I'm an avid fan of Sienna Mynx and she hasn't let me down yet. I would have given this book a higher rating, but as with a lot of this author's books, an editor is needed for grammatical and spelling errors. Other than those aspects, the writing is well done and the plots flow nicely and are original.
I picked up this book simply because I am reading a longer, more complex book that deals with difficult topics and needs something easy to read to lighten it all up. The story isn't particularly bad. It was rather simple but interesting, however, I still had some issues with it. All the characters with the exception of Michelle and Kumar were utterly annoying, sometimes you could see there was something that tried to be a change of perspective but that, ultimately, lead to a confusion because I lost track of whose emotions were those supposed to be. While writing in third person gives you the freedom to explore more in depth all of the character's emotions, this book failed at this multiple perspective. It looked more like a first person book than anything else. Lee's character was terrible in my opinion, his reasoning was fucked up beyond comprehension. By the end of the book I was fed up with him, and I honestly found very disappointing it took him several lies and awful actions for Michelle to finally realize it was an awful idea. The nickname Chocolat was so distasteful, and whenever it came up I had to laugh, because it just sounded utterly ridiculous. I did like though the fact we had a black female protag who wasn't dumb (except when it came down to relationships, let's get real). Long story short, I didn't hate this book but I didn't particularly loved it. It was just eh.
How could I put this in words to convey my reaction to this story, this book, these words in this first instalment. I felt this story, this emotional twisted betrayal of characters that kept on giving, this plot held me in each lines I read, each character told its own story and what each other means to one other, the suspense, the secrets, from past to present and the heart of each person in this book! Did I feel sorry for Sacha; no, but yes, her naivety that brought her sister Chocolate back into the game of bandits, do I understand Lee and his motives; no, how can I understand the workings of greed, but I do say yes to betrayal, do I want him and Michelle to come out the victorious and unscathed and very much together and in love riding off into the sunset with the winnings. Do I want to know more, more about Michelle and Sasha's dad plot to deceive the order; hell yes!........I am hooked with this fascinating tale of raw material of suspense and the undercurrent of growing up in a dysfunctional family in lies, thievery and addiction that helps you cope with your mistaken choices in your life.......this book deserves more then 5 star rating, I would say 9 out of 10. Worth every penny and late night reading to the very last ended pages of this book........Thank you Sienna Mynx for this tale from your imagination that you wrote.
I picked up this book because the story seemed interesting and I thought I was going to get some of that Eric Jerome Dickey-Gideon action, which I absolutely did not. I might have set my expectations too high for this book from jump. N-e-ways I just didn’t care much for the characters which made the story annoying and boring. Needless to say I am not interested in continuing on to read the 2nd and 3rd book.
The Sins of the Father... Michelle a.k.a Chocolat was taught by her father how to be the best and most sought after jewel thief there was. Michelle thought she left that life behind and became a former jewel thief who is forced back into that life because of her little sister Sasha who wants fame and fortune, but at her sister's expense. Enter Lee, he is the man that Sasha believes can make that happen, but doesn't realize he is the master manipulator. Sienna Mynx takes us on a gripping tale of betrayal, passion, possession and the underground world of organized crime. Lee not only wants Chocolat to do his bidding, but he wants her as a permanent fixture in his bed. This is a wonderfuld start to a series and we HIGHLY recommend it. 5 star read!!!
As a couple i'm really rooting for Michelle and Lee. My main concern is the lies and lack of trust between the two. Another concern is that Lee hasn't disclosed to Michelle the sexual act that transpired between him and her little sister. I know this happened before they were item, nevertheless that to me is a big deal. I'm not saying it isn't something they can work through. However the deceit coupled with the various other lies make it difficult for this relationship to stand the test of time.
As for the revelation regarding Nancy I was quite surprised. It goes to show you shouldn't always take things at face value. Off to read the next chapter and to see how it goes.
It started okay and then it just got boring, predictable and annoying. That been said, I do not intend to read book 2 or 3.
Update: reread Dec 17 2015 and it seemed slightly better hence the additional star but it wasn't great. A lot of parts could have been cut out because it was just boring.. in fact, the whole Sasha and Kumar situation, I could do without. Some parts were overdramatic and I am not intrigued by the story or interested in it. I gave this book another chance because of the 3rd book in the Battaglia series that I reread and noted I misjudged. But this book was rightly reviewed the first time I read it.
This was a great first book in the series. So much intrigue going on between all the characters, it just keeps you reading. There's a mystery to be solved of not only who killed Pops but also where is the Chalice. Can you figure it out before Michelle does, trust me there's enough clues for you to be able to. Highly recommend this book.
Ok how does a man redeem him self when all he has is revenge on da brain????? I've gotta say I don't think he can but I sure am powering thru this series to find out if he does lol. I'm hoping he stops using tricks and games but only reading will tell.....
I love most of this authors books, however this was not one of them. I just don't care much for Lee or Michelle. The story line is pretty interesting though so I will give the 2nd book a shot.
