Boys of Simson U. #2

MegaEvolvedJock: His Tutor?

Rate this book
When a jock with a past meets a brainy tutor with a broken heart, they discover that love can heal even the deepest wounds in this captivating M/M romance novel.

Todd thought he had it all figured out—he’d put his troubled past behind him and buried his bisexuality. He was a basketball star dating the smoking-hot Winter. But when things go south and he has to break up with Winter, Todd returns to the popular dating app CockyUnicorns to give guys another chance. Formerly TopJock69, Todd changes his profile name to MegaEvolvedJock as he looks for a real change from the rut he’s been in with Winter.

Enter Adrian Phelps, a smart and hardworking grad student who's just trying to make ends meet. He has a job he loves as a campus tutor, but Adrian's dream job quickly turns into a nightmare when he realizes he has been assigned to the athletic program to work with jocks—the very type of guys he's most attracted to and who he has been burned by most in the past.

But as fate would have it, Todd is assigned Adrian as a tutor. Despite their immediate attraction, Adrian tries to keep Todd at arms-length. Jocks are the enemy. But Todd is gentles and sweet, and the way he looks at Adrian gives him chills. These two can't help but be drawn to each other. But when Todd becomes the target of a vicious act of revenge, will Adrian and Todd’s burgeoning friendship evolve into something deeper, or will it all fall apart?

Don't worry, it's a HEA, and though there's still some angst along the way. Trigger there are references to past bad abusive relationships and degrading behaviors by past partners, as well as to abuse by an authority figure.

Wtaf no.

No one talks like the convo's in this book. It reads like a badly written teenage Wattpad fever dream about college.

If I were having some of the conversations presented in this book, and got some of the weird left field "what is going on in your head" responses I would back slowly out of the room while avoiding eye contact.

Also, the typos show lack of editing. The typos drive me crazy. But it's on brand for the level of quality you're getting.

Decent but a bit long winded

This is a good story and is cute. My decrease of stars is because it got a bit long winded.

I absolutely loved Todd and Adrian's story. They are perfect together and they support each other in the best ways possible. I also loved all the side characters in this story too and hope a few of them get their own stories as well.

This story does deal with some heavy topics concerning the main character's past traumas. They are pivotal in their character development but not overly described. I think these topics were handled well and at the end you get the same feeling of closure that our MC gets.

I'm loving the creative works of this new to the scene author and can't wait to read more stories by him.

Todd and Aiden's story is one centered around a sport genius and a tutor. Both drawn together due to one needing academic help to keep his place in college and the other needing some income to help his dreams come true. The story centers around the desire of each to keep their places in college, getting priorities straight and learning to follow their hearts.
A story that digs into the inner self. A story that makes those two young men really look at what is important to them - long-term
A recommended read

Emotions can tear you apart or hold you together!

When given recommendations for a tutor, Todd was offered the best by his instructor. But the best was also afraid of the bullying he had received from jocks in his past.

Unfortunately, Todd had a bad jock past, too. With a perfect, beautiful genius to tutor him, he gained the strength he needed to become the strong person he was destined to be. At least as long as his partner boyfriend was committed to helping them both become the leaders and advocates that they dreamed of becoming together.

Damn it you made me cry!!!

I went into this with the headspace of 'LonelyCollegeBoy' and was not prepared for this to be as heavy as it was. The TWs should be taken into account for anyone wanting to read

... that last locker room scene was so beautifully brutal

Todd and Adrian just so freaking cute together even working through their issues

I loved all the surrounding characters and cant wait to see some of them have their own books

so so good!

This story is just so beautiful. That relationships so good can come from such dark places is so heartwarming.
Take note of the trigger warnings! But if you can get by them, this book is amazing! This is my first time reading this author but it certainly won’t be the last . He made me laugh and he made me cry. Just so so good!

I gave 5 stars because this book was just wow. It's true that this book is not for everyone and that some readers might find some of the topics too raw for them but I think the book was written beautiful and the story was a great one.
I couldn't stop reading it until I finished the book!!
