Keep the tissues handy. I will miss the characters of the SandBar Sisters series. Apparently, this is the last story, although I’d love to see a sixth book that wraps up everyone’s lives. I highly recommend the entire series starting with book one. 🩷
If you haven’t started this series from the beginning, then turn around and start at book one because much of what happens in this book will not make sense. That being said, I loved this story of resilience from JJ. After running away from her grief, JJ returns home to put pieces of her life back together. It really is a feel good read and it made me smile and have some hope for this old world.
This was a delightful book and the last in the series. I enjoyed this book and the series immensely!

The fifth book in the Sandbar Sisters series of women's fiction. Set in Irish Hills, it's about a group of girls who grew up together, then drifted apart. When the town needed them, one by one, they came back.
This book is about JJ, the one who remained in Irish Hills until the last 9 months, after the hurricane, which took her husband's life. When Libby, the one who had got them all back to the town, finds her, she agrees to return for a couple of weeks. However, things don't always go to plan.
With her Son's lives to sort out, setting up a new business and sorting out her feelings for someone, JJ has her work cut out.
I love this series, I read this book in 24 hours and really hope that there is another book or 2 to come. The books are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and wider storyline.
Sandbar Sunrise by Rebecca Regnier is the fifth book in the Summer Cottage series that is set in Michigan. This series is contemporary second chance at love romance as well as crossroads/new beginnings novel in which a group of childhood/teen friends renew their friendships and embrace new opportunities in their fifties. IMO the books are best read in order, because the plotline/storyline weaves the past and presesnt together. To me, Sandbar Sunrise would probably be more confusing and less enjoyable if I had not read the other books and understood the inside stories of the various characters.
In Sandbar Sunrise, we see Irish Hills almost a year into rebuilding after a tornado had destroyed parts of the tight knit resort community. As deadlines approach, the group of friends work together to insure success. Alcoholism plays a major role in delays, and friends must take a stand before all is lost. One "newcomer" must choose to embrace the lifestyle and commitments of belonging to the Irish Hills community, or face losing a chance for lasting friendships and romance.
I enjoyed Sandbar Sunrise very much, and, in fact, could not put it down once I started reading it. I hope that this is not the conclusion of the series, because too many important strands were left hanging for my satisfaction and enjoyment. Each book in the series shared the story of one of the girls who were summer friends throughout their childhood and teen years. Each story gave the girls a chance to embrace current possibilities instead of being mired in the choices and mistakes of the past. I would love to see a final book to bring all the storylines together, and to offer a resolution that embraces the growth of a group of girls from teenage dreams and angst to adults who are comfortable in their own shoes.
Another great chapter for the Sandbar Sisters. JJ needed to come home to really start dealing with her grief and to realize that home is where she belongs. I loved the interaction between JJ and Sterling. This series just hits home with me. I felt JJ as I lost my husband too quickly and with no watning. It just hits different sometimes you have to face it all to get through it. Then pick up the pieces and move on. Thank you for another book in a fantastic series.
This story brought me back in time to my younger days. Teenage girl groups doing things together that they loved. For me it was a skating rink that was a block from my home. My best friend and I were there if it was open. Met my hips and of 61 years, heading towards 62 years.
This was about when those teenagers grow up and how they save a beachside town. They rebuilt it twice from devastation…cyclones near Michigan. You really want to read all,of this series. I have really enjoyed the easy reading.
So much more to know. Please another book. The description if the aftermath of the tornado was so correct. We endured Andrew. Stone’s metamorphosis was so comforting. Might I hope to have one of those kimonas?💜 the DNA of acute alcoholism is a terrible curse and so are the enablers. Lessons learned.
The gang of Sandbar sisters comes to a quaint close after J.J. gets her life back in order. These ladies… I’m going to miss them! In these five books, I’ve come to know them, understand them, laugh and cry with them. Thank you Ms. Regnier for a wonderful ride!
All the books in this series were wonderful - great characters, good writing, story line you can't put down. I read these in Kindle. The editing was atrocious. Any other book, I would have returned to Kindle because the errors are annoying. But these books were too good - they deserve a decent edit in the Kindle version.
I read all 5 stories in3 days. I wanted to know what life had in store for the Sandbar Sisters. Book 5 didn't disappoint me. The stories are truly fictional as people don't turn their lives around that quickly, but it's good to see how true friendship stands the test of time. Great reads to sit back in the sun and escape.
JJ is at loose ends after her husband died but gets pulled back into her small hometown’s issues. Regnier hits the right notes in this light summer read.
Real stories come to life in these beautiful characters showing us everything is possible, you just have to put your mind to it and show perseverance. Friendship is very important and they are the families we choose. Loved it
I love this series. Good friends, adventures and difficulties abound. I felt like I was right there in the middle of Irish Hills visiting my dear old friends.
I really enjoyed this entire series watching the Sandbar Sisters reunite after many years. They all have found their different strengths and new men in their lives. I will definitely recommend this series to everyone.
I loved following their stories and each of them continuing on in the next book(s). Hoping there will be a 6th book to read! There is still more story to tell!
This was a great series… although you should read from book one. It makes you feel good all the way through. I hope there will be a book 6 just to see what happens next.
