He was featured on many national and local TV and radio programs every year. He won more Visionary Awards than any other author.
Ted was a worldwide acclaimed speaker and teacher. He presented sold-out seminars to thousands of people throughout the US and Canada every year, and his appearances were just as popular and in demand in the United Kingdom, Europe and parts of Asia. In May 2002 he was specially invited to speak to the UNSRC at the United Nations in New York for his writings and work with animals.
This award-winning and best-selling author was involved in the serious study of the esoteric and occult for more than 40 years, and he brought to the field an extensive formal and informal education. He served the public school system for ten years as a teacher and counselor, 7 of which were spent working with disadvantaged students, creating a special needs reading program for which he received both local and state recognition.
Called a true Renaissance man, Ted was trained in music, playing the piano since the age of 12. He composed, performed and produced the music for ten audiocassettes. He could even scratch out a tune or two on the violin/fiddle. He was a longtime student of sacred dance, ballet and Kung Fu. A clairvoyant since childhood, he was also a certified spiritualist medium for nearly 30 years.
Probably best known for his work with animals, Ted held state and federal permits to work with birds of prey. He performed wildlife rescue and worked in wildlife rehabilitation and education. He conducted animal education and storytelling programs with his animals in school classrooms throughout the year, giving freely of his own time and expense to help young people discover the wonder of animals and nature. In his spare time, he enjoyed hanging out with his menagerie of animals, training and playing with his horses and ballroom dancing.
What a great book to read at the end of the year. I will be utilizing all of this info at the start of the next year. Ted Andrews always does a great job of breaking things down into simple and effective strategies. I will continue to read his books until I have completed the catalog.
A very good read. What I like about this introductory book is that the author doesn't talk down to you or explain things in a way that is so basic it makes the reader feel like a child. That was the problem I had with a few different qabala intro books. This is definitely more of a philosophy of the qabala type book with some actual practice thrown in for good measure. The author even explains the reasons why Abrahamic terminology is best used while also making sure the reader knows that any pantheon or belief system can be made to work with the qabala, something I greatly appreciated.
A decent introduction that does an okay job of discussing the basics. It's certainly not in depth considering it's short length. But it raised many questions which in a sense is a good thing because it forces someone to seek out the answers in order to learn more.
To be honest, the book started off very bland with a minor overview of the basics but then came the “Do It!” Part. I was so impressed with the hands-on sections that I even implemented it to my own routine. Though Ted Andrews is very knowledgeable, I feel that this is not a book for someone seeking a true basic approach, especially with the lack of analogies.
So far, for true basic Qabalah I would still recommend The Chicken Qabalah by Lon Milo Duquette but for more sophomore work, Simplified Qabalah is worth a read.

A bit disappointing, but I'm glad I read it anyways. This seems to largely lend an "insider" perspective, though I was hoping to hear more about the history and differences between sects with this system. While I'm not versed in Qabala, this book seemed to largely focus on more new age applications and practice (vibrations, energy work, etc). A quick skim of the author's other books seem to give a good overview of the type of magic systems this falls in line with, which aren't exactly what I'm interested in. Many questions remain unanswered, but worth a read.
I have recently encountered Qabala from a number of sources and have had difficulty understanding it. That changed after reading this book. Ted Andrews provides a simplified explanation of Qabala while laying a solid foundation for Qabala work. Highly recommended.
It's a great book and a very quick read. The only reason I didn't ultimately give it five was 'the master known as Jesus' references were a bit off putting, but that's just personal taste.
