First, let me get this off my chest, I am so annoyed this book was written before the Internet was what it is now.. Lots of talk about phone calls and writing checks and policies.. outdated.. I'm sorry I couldn't get past it. She's not a luddite...I recently heard a podcast about the misuse of words and luddite has more to do with class warfare. What were my take-aways? ... hmmm Everyone has their own style they develop, there are different ways to structure your business, you can be in new age stores, coffeeshops or bars.. you can have a website.. Um.... Sorry, I rarely give one star and I hope I don't hurt Ms. Jette's feelings because she sounds like she would be very effective in person. I would love to take one of her workshops on the history of tarot. This just isn't anything I couldn't gather myself or find on Pinterest..
I didn’t hate this book, however I have a feeling of disappointment because the information was general. I wanted it to be more specific. A great deal of the time, I felt it was unfocused. Some of the chapters felt disjointed and more like filler. The author wrote about teaching tarot and then wrote about taking a class. I didn’t feel either had anything to do with the business side of reading tarot. Finally, it was very, very dated. It seemed the author herself was not comfortable utilizing the tool of the internet and with the new use of social media platforms, it was truly no longer relevant.
Thought this was a great little overall guide to what sort of things you will encounter when you are reading (trouble clients, etc.) and various other goings on that you need to be prepared for when you are starting your own business as a professional tarot reader (as the title says).
I thought it was pretty great and I use it as a reference book now.
