About the author

Kago Shintarō ( 駕籠真太郎) is a Japanese illustrator and manga artist. Kano was born in Tokyo in 1969. He debuted in 1988 on the magazine COMIC BOX. Since then his comics, usually short stories, have been published in several adult manga magazines, gaining him considerable popularity around the world.
Kago specialises in ero-guro, a Japanese visual genre that puts its focus on eroticism, sexual corruption, and grotesque body horror. Many of Kago's manga have strongly satirical overtones, and deal with grotesque subjects such as extreme sex, scatology and body modification. His unique style has been called "fashionable paranoia".

I stumbled upon Kago when someone posted a 'WTF this is the weirdest/most disturbing comic you'll ever read' thread on Reddit. Well, I was pretty grossed out but hey, it's the internet. Anyway, Super-Conductive Brains Parataxis is sort of a mellow version of Kago (like when you go into a Mexican restaurant and tell the waiter to make the food 1/10 of how spicy it would usually be). Stylistically I find him similar to Moebius, lots of bird eye perspectives, cut panels and clean lines. Kago is apparently a Guro artist, a genre that emphasises gore, violence, absurdity, sex and horror in a contemporary setting. It's like meaningful porn - think Andy Warhol, David Cronenberg and David Lynch.

I'm not sure how you can get this manga, there's probably an English edition somewhere but I haven't had any luck online or in bookstores. The translation I read was in Chinese so yeah, I understood half of it. Still amazing though, definitely recommended.

Arte excepcional. Ambientación en un muy buen punto. Historia, en algunos aspectos ha relucido el autor lo que trataba de demostrar, en otros, se ha quedado con una trama sencilla para el entorno brutal que había desarrollado.

Esta es una serie de historias en donde se irán presentando distintos conflictos y que relata cómo unos científicos utilizan el ADN de una civilización de gigantes para crear réplicas y quitarles sus extremidades, las que luego usarán para construir vehículos y maquinaria semibiológica.

El manga es entretenido, con ideas originales, pero yo creo que le faltó algo más; no me sorprendió ni me mató tanto como para decir que es lo mejor que he leído, solo es aceptable. Aún así me parece que es una buena manera de iniciarse con el autor y realmente espero poder leer más de sus obras pronto.

Un conjunto de cuentos en apariencia aislada que convergen como las ramas de un árbol con su tronco. Un manejo interesante de su premisa, sus giros argumentales y temas. Inicialmente tenía mis reservas, pero al final me resultó sumamente satisfactorio. Aquí hay mucho con que hacer disecciones y reflexiones.

well this was... an experience? I found out it's from the same author as fraction after finishing, and the vibes were kinda similar tbh. I'm not sure how to feel about it, but I strongly feel that Therapy should be mandatory for some people.

La historia tiene puntos interesantes sobre el futuro de la humanidad. Me gustó la fusión de máquinas con partes del cuerpo, es una tecnología extraña y todos los diseños me asombraron. Mi calificación es intermedia porque me costó leer el manga, el estilo de las ilustraciones me causaba confusión por los detalles de la parte industrial y la simpleza de los humanos.

Нестримний японський малюнок і абсолютно трансгуманний сюжет.

Все-таки японці підходять до візуального оповідання (сторітелінгу) зовсім інакше, ніж у Євпропі та Амерці. В «Мізках» макроісторію розбито на дрібніші фрагменти. Фрагментарність і неакуратність: задача малюнку — донести ідею. І не більше. Лінія сама по собі «не співає».

З іншого боку, Шінтаро Каґо притаманна зображальна відвертість, навіть певна анатомічна пристрасть. Людина — це тіло. Плоть. Сума м'язів, в'язів, гуморів. Людина — це мізки. Мізки — це біль.

А мораль? Немає. Лише щільна, непроникна (має власну семіотику), історія з, треба сказати, досить сильним сюжетом.

Абсолютно інша естетика, яка іде врозріз передусім з нашою етичною системою координат.

Не знаю нікого, кому міг би це порадити.
