This book opened a whole new world for me, a new way of thinking; allowing me to find a balance between work and play.
Tim is a great teacher with a very useful set of tools up his belt, and ability to share his knowledge in a very easy, readable manner.

This book is not for everyone, but I found parts of it very interesting. He sort of glosses over the assignment of JustCreateABusinessThatRunsItself. Try to let that go however, and focus on some of his advice for improving your efficiency and outsourcing tasks that can be done by others. I'm also not quite with him on living in a hut in S.America with the money that I do make, but it's true it's possible. All in all, it was an interesting book with some unique perspectives on things.

excellent book if you want to chop away the extra "shit" in your day and lead a much fuller life. A philosophical scientist that Tim Ferriss is.

I only bought this because I heard it referenced so many times. I read it with low expectations as I find most "self-help" type books far too vague. I was pleasantly surprised to find lot's of really useful nuggets of information and more efficient ways of doing business. We're all limited by our own world view and assumptions but Tim Ferriss definitely has an unburdened and unique way of looking at how to get things done. Anybody doing freelance work or considering setting up a business should read this book.

Provides excellent insight on how to take back control of your life by freeing up time in your busy personal and work life. The author refers to a "4-hour work week" as 'lifestyle design' and suggests ways to accomplish this through, without giving too much away, prioritization, delegation, and elimination of unnecessary day to day tasks to enable your energy and efforts into meaningful pursuits that can generate positive cash flow.

This book main aim is not to teach or convince you to work four hours a week, the title is more there to get attention. The books concept is deeper , it's about lifestyle design and to question the current work norm. The book gives advice on how to work and live smarter so you get more out of both.

Just brilliant. So glad there are people out there that think this way as I hope we can eventually find more time for the things we enjoy.

Some great info here. Likely better in print as there are many sites and recommendations to refer back to.
At times it felt repetitive.

Tried my best to get a glimpse of his writing. Don't know to what extent his ideas can be practically applied in my context.

Interestingly, I got to know about The Four-Hour Work Week (4HWW) from So Good They Can't Ignore You: Why Skills Trump Passion in the Quest for Work You Love book (which is a great read in itself) and which preaches exactly opposite to what Tim Ferriss does in 4 HWW. So, I was ultra convinced that 4 HWW is similar to those get rich quick schemes kinda books which are as silly as they sound. Hence, I scrapped reading it...However, when I skimmed this book after a chance sighting of it in my office library, I was instantly hooked.

I am not gonna talk about what Tim Ferriss teaches and advocates in this book in detail, as already all the reviewers have done that...instead, I am just gonna say that you do not have to actually do what Tim has done. You do not even have to leave your job. What I got from 4HWW is that even if you employ some of Tim's techniques (Parkinson's law, 80/20 principles and the art of avoiding emails and conference calls like plaque), at your current job, it will shoot your productivity through the roof....The lifestyle redesign part comes later when you get plenty of time as result of employing these techniques at your work place. Tim pushes you go beyond your boundaries and take mini-retirements now instead of later. However, it is entirely up to you, what you do with those new found free hours!...4HWW is also a treasure trove of information and other clever hacks which will prove useful to you at some point in life.

For the last 2 weeks, I have been using some of the techniques mentioned in this book (Parkinson's law and avoiding email/con calls) and they have given me a sense of calm at my insanely busy day job as a software engineer...This book will save you a lot of time! I suggest reading So Good They Can't Ignore You: Why Skills Trump Passion in the Quest for Work You Loveand then 4HWW which will give a unique and well balanced perspective to look at your 9-5 or 9-8 job like myself.

Definitely a potpourri of life skills. Although the author didn't outright call some of his ideals minimalist, that is definitely what many were. And while he has a very efficient way of obtaining information from others I think there is definitely something lacking in making a connection with peers-- the author assumably has healthy relationships with some people, he definitely draws a line with business verses personable.

I must be one of the last people in America to read this, and I enjoyed it. I was a little skeptical based on the title, and there are sections of this that are skimmable, but in all I think he puts forward an important premise and makes a strong case for making living the center of your life, instead of work. Also offers some practical advice about how to accomplish that. For anyone who loves to travel, this is a good reminder that the only thing really stopping you is you......

Unforgettable. Life changing.
Permanent bedside table reference book.
Tim now has a permanent space in my head which keeps asking "Is this the way I really want to run my business? What would I change if I could?"

There is no 4-hr workweek. It takes a lot of hard work and time to be an entrepreneur.

But some of the automation process might be helpful for startups.
