PERSONAL RESPONSE:
I read Over The Hedge to my younger brother,Tinsae who was eight years old. He really liked pictures and thought that a person should not steal. I thought the book was ok because I found the book to kiddish.

PLOT:
In the book Over The Hedge the raccoon named Rj was really wanted potato chips chips. Rj knew where the food would be. All he had to do was not get caught by Vincent. Vincent was a bear sleeping next to his food. Rj loaded everything onto a wagon. Rj could not resist of taste the potato chips so he the lid. Vienct heard the can of potato chips open and woke up scaring Rj enough to trip over the wagon letting it roll down the hill, and got hit by a truck. Vincent told Rj he had one week to get all the food that he took. Rj went to the suburbs and saw some other animals behind the hedge. He talked them into going to suburbs. Rj trick the other animals into going by saying he would keep it for the up and coming winter. Rj got everything he needed for Vincent. Rj head up to the cave before Vincent woke up. Vincent was up and watching Rj friends. Vincent saw the exterminator going to kill them. Rj took the wagon down the hill to save them. Vincent chased Rj down the hill and Vincent got caught in a change. The friends had enough food for the winter.

CHARACTERIZATION:
Rj was a sneaky raccoon. He learned that he should not steal because he would have to fix what he did. He took advantage of his new friends b tricking them to help with his problem. In the end he saved his friends and did not take advantage of them any more.

SETTING: Most of where this took place was in the forest and suburbs. This took place in present time because right know people are taking animals home and putting houses there.

RECOMMENDATION:
I recommend this book to parents for children ages 4-7 years old. This book had neat and colorful pictures. The kids would like it because of the animals in the book.

This book was okay. It was kind of a silly book, though. It was hard to understand at some times when there was a lot going on. I liked it, though. It was something different compared to what I usually read. In this book, RJ ruins Vincent's food and has a week to get it all back. He decides to use help from Ozzy, Hammy, Verne, Heather, Stella, and the Hedgehog family.
