I've finally made up a few small projects from the book, and wanted to expand on my review:

The projects are good, the templates and instructions are clear, and I was able to produce a few small gold bugs that look pretty close to what's in the book. The "pretty close" is down to two things:

1. My skill. I'm getting better at the stitches but have a ways to go.
2. The materials. Everett calls for ophir thread on nearly every project, which was a Coats product that has been discontinued. I tried using the metallic DMC floss in my stash, but it didn't behave the way the ophir thread is meant to. Apparently DMC Diamant thread is a good substitute and I've ordered some, but I haven't had a chance to try it yet. Something to keep in mind if you're considering this book.

Overall it's a good book and a helpful guide to learning goldwork.
