I say Who, What, and Where!

Rate this book
Have you ever asked yourself: Who am I? What am I doing with my life? And where am I going?

After following her self-absorbed boyfriend to a small town in central Minnesota, writer's block strikes in Marcy Hunt's almost perfect life. Hoping a change of scene will help her to meet her now-urgent deadline, the 33-year-old New Yorker heads out on her own to Miami Beach.

Before becoming a writer, she had a promising law career; now she faces the challenge of building a new living from scratch. While confiding non-stop to her secret online psychoanalyst, she will do whatever it takes to convince her friends, her boyfriend and mainly herself that she's not a loser.

Not only does she get involved in hilarious adventures with Daniel, the stingy next-door neighbor who is all too ready to poke fun at her, she also gets tangled up in a murder case at Splendor Condo where her amateur investigation feeds her crippled literary inspiration. She attends lavish parties with Veronica, her gorgeous Colombian friend who lives the fairy tale life she yearns for; of course, appearances can be deceiving. At one of the parties she meets Xavier, a sexy young Catalan with whom she is terrified of falling in love; and later in La pequeña Habana they share a sensual dance--or perhaps, more than that. Later, in Fort Lauderdale, Marcy encounters Sharon, a talkative old painter who reveals a mystery and encourages her to explore her true reason for becoming a writer.

Between the eventful ups and downs of her life, when she least expects it, a great physical danger arouses her hidden miseries and awakens her for the first time to wonder who she is, what she's doing, and where she's going. With the help of an offbeat Chinese doctor, Marcy starts out answering these questions and behaving accordingly. Through the painful quest for her own Holy Grail she discovers that the happiness and freedom she's been seeking outside herself actually comes from within.

‘I Say, Who What Where’ by Merce Cardus Book Review
Thirty-Three year old, Marcy Hunt is a woman torn. Honestly, she could be anyone you know. Having left the corporate world behind her, she attempts to complete her first novel. Trying desperately to launch her writing career while simultaneously maintaining a relationship with her boyfriend, Sean, & finding herself, she seeks solace in a journal. As she confesses all to her pen & paper, we go along with her on her journey of self-discovery. Humor, tears, & honesty pepper each entry. Along the way, we may learn a thing or two about ourselves, but regardless, we will have a great time!
I had such a blast reading this book. It is the second novel that I’ve read from Merce & it has become my favorite of the two. Every bit of this novel is so realistic. Readers will be able to relate to Marcy as if she is a close friend & confidant. In fact, many of the trials she goes through in the course of her own friendships with women will strike a chord with female readers.
As you follow along, you’ll want to cheer her on in her voyage. Some of her decisions will make you shake your head while others will thrill you. Even the men in her life are all too realistic. Who doesn’t have a man from their past that they serious wonder about? Her world travels are unique. Readers may feel a pang of jealousy at how Marcy just makes up her mind, picks up, & goes. With no responsibilities to hold her back, we can travel vicariously through her.
Merce has definitely found her niche. ‘I Say Who What Where’ is a terrific read, guaranteed to be popular with readers. Truly, a 5 star novel that was simply a thrill to read, I highly recommend it. After you’ve finished, check out ‘Deconstructing Infatuation’, Merce’s first novel.
I received 1 EBook in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

I received a free copy in exchange of an honest review:

It must be destiny!!! I can't find another words to describe how this book reach my hands.
Let me explain: if I'd read this books some weeks ago it'd just been a nice quick book to read, maybe 4 stars, but this week! This book gave me the words I needed to hear... I mean, Merce, if you could change the name from Marcy to Martha it'd be perfect!!

Now let's talk about the book:
It's a story of someone searching for someone without noticing that someone is herself. Along with small details in her life (such quitting her job) she starts to understand we are not here to watch life but to be a part of it.
Easy, quick and fun to read, it will make you think.

The main character:
Marcy Hunt is in a crisis, but she doesn't knows it... I want you to raise your hand if you hadn't had a crisis... yeah, just what I thought. Maybe you are missing the point of your life and maybe you need to read the book to understand, laugh, and even think WTF?
Well written character with many minor characters that are not well specified, and won't give more than what's necessary, in the end they have a mission and they make it through.

What I didn't/did like:
I think the author do leaves us with some doubts in Marcy life, some facts that are never really given an end (not important stuff but I'd have appreciated it).
I did find refreshing the point of view of the author, let's be honest, there are a lot of books about searching your path but this one is, by far, the easiest to understand, and I certainly will reread it soon.

In the end:
This book was perfect for my situation, for me.
Easy, quick and light enlightening reading.

Maybe you are a Marcy Hunt too and you don't know it.

I found this book on Kindle Unlimited and decided to give it a try. I found that it was really interesting and had me hooked from the first page! Marcy Hunt isn't really happy with how her life has turned out so far and is wanting to make a change. She decides to take the opportunity of a lifetime in Florida. Marcy meets so many new men while on her journey and comes into contact with some new friends as well. I loved the overall message of this book in that it is never too late to make a change if you are unhappy. I think that the author did a great job of developing the characters and Marcy was very likable. I would read another book from this author in the future!
