Ariadne's Children by Rod Beaton has many good moments in a story set over three generations of a family of archeologists. It takes place in the times before the Second World War and after, right up to the present. Beaton does a fine job of stringing out the details so that there is lots to lead the reader forward. At time the pace gets slow but, generally, this is a good read.

Really enjoyed this: archeology, ancient history, three generations of one family "set against seventy years of political turmoil in Europe.
