About the author

Scott Lobdell (born 1960) is an American comic book writer.

He is mostly known for his work throughout the 1990s on Marvel Comics' X-Men-related titles specifically Uncanny X-Men, the main title itself, and the spin-off series that he conceived with artist Chris Bachalo, Generation X. Generation X focused on a number of young mutant students who attempted to become superheroes in their own right at a separate school with the guidance of veteran X-related characters Banshee and Emma Frost. He also had writing stints on Marvel's Fantastic Four, Alpha Flight, and The Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix mini-series with artist Gene Ha. He wrote the script to Stan Lee's Mosaic and an upcoming film from POW Entertainment featuring Ringo Starr. He also participated in the Marvel Comics and Image Comics (from Jim Lee's WildStorm) crossover mini-series WildC.A.T.s/X-Men.

Aside from the fact that I had no idea what was happening about 40% of the time, I thoroughly enjoyed the parts that made sense. Perhaps not the best pitch in the world, right? It's clear that the flaws stem from the way it has been collected. Despite the title, the Secret of M is dwarfed in size by other stories that, to be quite frank, aren't that compelling, and the enjoyment relies on how much you enjoy the line up. Definitely the most poorly constructed collection so far, it may be a make or break for casual enjoyers.

I fully enjoyed this one, but I couldn’t get into the whole Howard the duck series in this one. The artwork was so so for the most part which I understand was from the 90’s. But come on how much of that can one take?

Honestly, not a great collection and this is where I fell of reading Generation X back when I was still buying monthly. The story zigs and zags all over the place and most of it concerns things that were going on in the main X-titles at the time and some of the major resolutions to plot-points go unexplained because of that. There were also a number of spelling and editorial mistakes peppered throughout. Bachalo goes from being one of my favourite artists to 'what the fuck happened to this guy?' as the book progresses to the point where at the end of his tenure Jubilee for some reason looks like an infant, Paige looks to be about eight years old, and Banshee's chin takes up most of the panels that he's in - It's weird. If you're a completist like I am, you'll want this on your shelf, but don't expect a great time reading it.

Worth noting, this book doesn't actually contain the Secret of M. We get the very beginning of the big reveal, then...3 issues of an unrelated series called Daydreamers. Truly befuddling collection design.

Poslednje epizode na kojima je radio Kris Bacalo (meni jedan od omiljenih crtaca EVER), i prve koje je pisao Dzejms Robinson. Ima i nekih ubacenih serijala i epizoda van glavnog serijala, koji uopste nisu losi (a i pojavljuje se patak Hauard, sto je veliki plus).

As much as I love Chris Bachalo and the underground one shot at the end of the volume, there's just not a lot going on in these issues. And the less said about the spinoff miniseries where Franklin does a dream thing, the better.

Some small issues has the team meeting up with Black Tom Cassidy and leads into OZT crossover. Great art from Bachalo with Bastian and his Sentinel teams take on the mutant population.
