Haunted: DarkFront Witness Book 1

Rate this book
“Haunted?” he asked. “Yeah,” Huck replied. “But not a building, or a chair, or creepy music box. Me. I’m haunted.” High school twin brothers Mark and Huck Derringer host a small but successful ghost-hunting web series with their mutual best friend, Jasper. While Mark and Jasper are convinced the things they see go bump in the night are real, Huck argues fiercely against it, insisting what they capture is easily explained away. Because if it was real, that would mean the horrifying things he sees at the edge of his vision every day are real… After a night of ghost hunting and celebrating a milestone of views on their channel, a terrible accident turns the boys' lives into a real-life horror show. Forced with confronting things worse than ghosts and demons, Huck fights for his life and to break the chains that pull him deeper into a darkness filled with supernatural horrors.

Those supernatural vibes but Mark and Huck could be Dean while Jasper is Sam because he was skeptical at first. I really enjoyed this!

I liked this book because it was a little different. It is a paranormal, horror, supernatural horror, and dark fantasy horror. The main themes in this book center around ghosts, specters, witches, and demons. Huck and Mark are the main characters but Huck, AKA Huckleberry, finds himself alone trying to figure out what he's seeing. Huck and Mark were ghosthunters. I've always loved the look of people with heterochromia, however, it signifies something dark in this novel. I was so sad when Huck was left alone. Then absolutely livid at his biological parents. Please, A.J. Morgenstern, give Huck a chance for retribution against them, especially the mom. Personally, I would never forgive them. At one point, it seems like everyone just wants to take advantage of Huck and he has no one to turn to. Will Huck ever find the answers he is so desperately looking for? Please keep in mind this is book 1 of 2, so everything is not totally resolved yet. This book kept me intrigued enough I plan to read book 2. I think the narrator did a good job expressing how distraught Huck was and I love the name Huckleberry.

This was a good book. It seemed like a different version of the Winchester's. Paranormal activity, the one that doesn't believe is the one who is fighting this type of world and losing those he loves from it. I look forward to reading more from this series.
