A beast between the sheets.

And sure, I swoon when I see him. But I also have ideas on how to run his company. He's got the brawn and I've got the brains. Together, we'd be unstoppable. I’ll even let him eat me.

As long as he starts down there.

two stars for story premise

Premise was cute, but execution is terrible. Regularly shifts from first person to third, and is riddled with typos and rambling thoughts that are unrealistic for someone in the characters position. Wanted to like it, but am sorely disappointed. Had to stop when I found myself more annoyed with the writing than I was able to enjoy the story.

Fun story

I loved the story, it is sassy and sexy. Unfortunately, the author really needs more time on editing: missed words, spelling errors and issues with use of tense like she planned one way then changed her mind and rewrote but missed a few spots. I look forward to reading more stories from this author, despite the editing issues.

So many problems.

This could have been good. It had potential. But the amount of typos, word errors, and jumping around just shrunk it down to 2 stars. Pick a tense and stay there with the correct pronouns and verbs. So frustrating along with the plot jumping around at times not making sense.

New to Chicago, Leia (h) struggles as an independent web marketing strategist and makes ends meet by working as bartender ‘Elle.’ Orc CEO Deiderich (H) is a bit of a technophobe even as he works to move his weapons company forward. Deiderich meets ‘Elle’ when he stops by the bar for a drink and things start to heat up between the two, but their relationship moves in a new direction when Leia shows up to interview for a tech position at Deiderich’s company. The two seem at odds with one another over every decision to be made but that doesn’t stop the pair from getting hot and steamy at work. The pair seem to thrive on the combative nature of their relationship in this orc romantic quickie with plenty of heat, some funny moments, and a little bit of workplace angst.

Leia needs a job and gets hired by Deiderich. He's an orc and runs a company that sells weapons. They went on a date but he says he wants to keep it professional. Only he doesn't. She is supposed to revamp their website but another orc named Zouk makes her uncomfortable. It is a quick read that is billed as a romantic comedy although I didn't find it very humorous or romantic. Sure, he's an orc and maybe they play by different rules but most of their sexual antics feel rather awkward in the context of their strained boss-employee interactions. Regarding the writing, some of the punctuation is slightly awkward and some other minor edits would be helpful. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I enjoyed this book very much and I do loved a strong and feisty woman who can look after herself and is looking for a new job and lands an interview as a Marketing Manager and meets a sexy as sin Orc and there date goes very well and the chemistry is hot and steamy between them and then it all stops when her Date turns out to be her new boss Deiderich. Deiderich is the owner of the Weapons company that has just hired Leila his date from the bar she worked at but now they must fight off their desires but it’s hard to keep there hands off each other and everyone stands clear of the arguments they have and the passion that follows after each one. How does it all turn out and do they get their HEA in the end or not.

Some simple sentence variation would have made this so much more enjoyable. On a page if there were 20 sentences 17 of them started with I.
Clearly not edited, there were missing words, huge grammatical errors and the book switched from first the third person quite a few times. Also the “twist” at the end made zero sense because the “bad guy” wasn’t a bad dude at the beginning at all. About 50% it’s like the author realized she needed an antagonist and picked one at random. Events were rushed and there was no lead up. Suddenly there was a meeting. And then a HUGE PRESENTATION that hadn’t been mentioned in previous chapters.

The author just needs a better editor. Period.

Definitely a cute orc love story, Leia and Deiderich are hugely addictive characters. The story flows smoothly, her struggle to start over in a new place is real, and his frustration with his company comes through clearly too. I loved the way the characters interacted with each other and how Leia was bold in what she knew and with what she could do, but was still vulnerable, but not a pushover. It was a good story, and fun to read, it just had some editing problems that should be addressed, it just threw me off a little bit, the little mistakes.

Cute story, not excessive depth--but the editing errors REALLY diminish the effect

I've read several stories by this author, and the overall sweet HEAs are very enjoyable reads. However, bad editing is a big problem.

It isn't merely the misuse of words that sound alike, but the stark changes in how characters are referred to. The story is told in first person perspective, yet suddenly it is third. Names of characters are sometimes either misspelled or were changed from an earlier draft and not all uses were found and replaced.

Four stars for the crap editing.

Spicy Enemies-to-Lover

Leia desperately needs a job, Diederich’s company Valdor needs an either website and social media overhaul. These two meet at the bar, then one a date, so when they finally get to the interview, there’s some conflicting emotions. These two find bickering and postering to be foreplay, and butting heads turns into bumping uglies. I enjoyed the banter between these two, and the ending is poetic justice - and then it’s sweetly romantic. A fun read.

Deiderich and Leia's Story . . .

CEO Deiderich is an Orc with a weapons company. He meets Leia (“Elle”), newly arrived in Chicago, at a bar and they are attracted to each other. When she comes to his company for an interview, things between them change. Deiderich seems to have many mood swings and he and Leia argue often. Will the steamy part of their relationship begin again? Or will his hot and cold attitude turn her away?

Grumpy Orc Boss

I really enjoyed the story itself. The characters were well rounded and the plot was great.
I did not enjoy the unclear person perspective particularly in the beginning. It threw me out of the story completely. And the spelling errors were bad. Chiwawa? Yikes. But, I will most definitely continue the series! Hopefully, the errors from this book will have been ferreted out!

Not a winner for me.

I think this could have been a good story, but it needs a lot of work and an editor. Changing between points of view; going from her to I and back again,in the same sentence when the whole thing is in first person . Words put in the wrong place. The male lead is all over the place, with no explanation, and the female lead says says one thing and then does another. Due to all this, the middle really drags and is just confusing.

It was cute BUT

It’s a big BUT. Who edited this? This was clearly a first draft. The author was planning out the storyline and then just hit send like an ill advised “reply all” email.

Third person, first person in the same sentence? What was the name of the main character again? Because there were two.

Please send out the final draft next time! Because I think you’ve got the stuff if you would just take your time.

I knew this was an “odd” book and tried to give grace, however, there were multiple sentences that jumps between first and third person. That was only one of many grammatical errors.

As for the story, if the MMC is an orc and his tusk are mention once then they need to mentioned again. Otherwise, he’s just a big green man.

And this is a personal peeve but orcs and ogres are not the same thing.

An ok story

The story started out fine. As the story progressed, the characters' behavior became erratic, like where the heck did that come from?! Some errors in editing like saying she instead of I when the POV was the FMC. I almost stopped reading it twice but ended up skipping over some pages. It felt like the spicy scenes were over the top and just thrown in there for some spice. I enjoy spice in my books, but these seemed strangely done.

big green boss!

Good set up of the characters. I liked how they met. I liked the progression.
A couple of chapters had some editing issues-she instead of me, that sort of thing. I usually shrug that off, but there was just enough to make it annoying. But it didn’t really detract from the overall story.

3.5 stars. Overall, I liked the characters. The story was all over the place though. With a little rework, could be a good story.

Leia and Deiderich's story is well written with its ups and downs, and him not realizing there is a villain close by. I enjoyed reading their story. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

What a fun read 😁.

Lots here to enjoy. Grumpy, hot Orc boss. Smart, sexy human female, who knows what he needs to grow his company. Whether he wants to follow or not. Great in -house sabotage plot twist, and a wonderful wrap up, and happy ending.

It had potential. There wasn't a whole lot of romance and the steamy scenes fell short for me and ended abruptly. Aside from a few grammatical errors I enjoyed this authors writing style. Felt like something was missing but I'm not sure what it was.

Good story, a lot of typos and grammatical errors

I like the story. And I liked the fantasy element or orca with a modern day twist. It was very difficult to read with all the typos and grammatical errors though.

Cute and simple

This was a cute and simple story. Plenty of steam and yummy tension, but definitely very quick and cut to the chase. Almost so fast that you feel you got cheated somehow? But very enjoyable none the less.

Adorable

This is an adorable little bite of a monster love story. It’s fun, sweet, and a great way to break up some of the darker monster romance series I like, as a palette cleanser. Highly recommend.

Grumpy Orc

I enjoyed this story. You have a grumpy male orc boss whose company is in need of a PR person and a energetic female PR human. But there's more going on than just needing some new ideas and an updated website. Very good.

I didn't finish this book. I felt zero connection between them. I also didn't see any humor even though the title says romantic comedy.

I’m not usually one to let bad editing affect my reading enjoyment but there were several and odd ones that stopped me in my reading track.

This was kind of boring… I really don’t need the ins and outs of day to day office work. The plot was also kind of convoluted.
