[From back cover] May Theilgaard Watts was educated at the University of Chicago, and now lives with her family in Naperville, Illinois. For years she served as Naturalist at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, Illinois, and she has received theMargaret Douglas Award of the Garden Club of America for achievement in conservation education. Mrs. Watts is the author of several books and numerous articles on trees. Michael Bevans, who has illustrated a number of children's books, is also author and illustrator of Reptiles and Amphibians and he Book of Seashells. His paintings of trees and animals have been featured in Life magazine, and he did identification cards for the Audubon Society.
